Hello everyone, I would like to share a simple tip for sharing a specific article on jw.org. This tip may already be known by some of you, but for those who haven't, this is the time to learn it! As of this writing, our official website's share link feature can only share an article as a whole, but not by specific paragraphs of the article, except on the Online Library where you can share a specific paragraph. So how can you share a specific paragraph of the article from our official website without going to the Online Library? There are 2 ways you can do it: Using the share feature: Choose an article you want to share. For example, this article "Jehovah’s Witnesses’ Scripturally Based Position on Child Protection", this is its share link: https://www.jw.org/finder?wtlocale=E&docid=1013165&srcid=share. This link only shares the article as a whole, but by adding "&par=" followed by a paragraph number at the end of the URL, you can specify which paragraph you want to share. So, for this article, we are going to add "&par=2" at the end of the URL, which corresponds to the 2nd paragraph of the article. The link will then look like this: https://www.jw.org/finder?wtlocale=E&docid=1013165&srcid=share&par=2. Now, when you access the link, it will immediately go to the 2nd paragraph of the article. You should see the dotted underline under the words of the paragraph. Using the website URL: Choose an article. This time we are going to use the article called "Terminology Guide" as an example. Go to the address bar, the website URL should look like this: https://www.jw.org/en/resources-for-journalists/terminology-guide/. Next, add "#p" followed by a paragraph number at the end of the URL (with or without a forward slash "/" before it will still work). Now, the URL will look like this: https://www.jw.org/en/resources-for-journalists/terminology-guide/#p22. Now when you access the link, it will immediately go to the 22nd paragraph of the article called Jehovah’s Witnesses. You should see the dotted underline under the words of the paragraph. I hope this simple tip will help you better access the article more seamlessly when sharing it with an individual or for your own use. Would you like to try it yourself? Hello everyone, I just made a short link generator exclusively for our official website and other websites owned by the organization worldwide; this generator will make all JW website URLs shorter. This is the link: JW-L.INK This will be very useful for publishers doing their personal study, theocratic assignments, or other organizational activities. Publishers can also use this to share JW article links with other publishers. For example, a publisher may want to shorten an article link such as: https://www.jw.org/finder?wtlocale=E&docid=1102022953&srcid=share (Song 153: Give Me Courage), into something easily memorable by customizing the URL path, like this: jw-l.ink/song153. Now, whenever a publisher wants to visit that exact same link, they can simply type 'jw-l.ink/song153' into the address bar of their web browser, and they will be redirected right away to that article." REMINDER: This short link generator should not be used in the ministry or outside of the organization. Only the official website should be used in the ministry. This generator will only accept URLs from our official website and other websites owned by the organization worldwide. Therefore, if you need to shorten a URL from a random website or article not owned by the organization, it will be rejected. I hope publishers will find this short link generator both useful and beneficial. If you have any questions or need clarification about this tool, please don't hesitate to ask. "JW.org has passed the milestone of being translated into 1000 languages, and is still rapidly growing! We will surely continue to see many more languages added in a short amount of time. So I thought I'd share some interesting language stats that I hope you all find encouraging (disclaimer: these stats may not be 100% correct, but if not then would be very close)... Today there are 7,099 living languages (This number includes sign languages, creoles, pidgins, mixed languages, constructs, and unclassified languages). It is predicted by some that in 100 years from now only 10% of these will still be alive ~ that is roughly 700. ~ In 2016 the entire Bible had been translated into 636 languages, and the complete New Testament into 1,442 languages, and is currently in the process of being translated into many more languages. The Watchtower magazine is translated into over 300 languages, and has a circulation of over 62 million copies bimonthly, making it the most circulated and most translated magazine on the planet. The Brochure Listen to God and Live Forever is in well over 640 languages (figure from mid 2016) and counting... Of those 7,000+ languages, just 397 languages have one million or more native speakers, only about 90 languages have ten million or more native speakers (23 of these account for more than half the world's population), just 10 languages have one hundred million or more native speakers, and only 1 language has close to one billion native speakers (Mandarin Chinese ~ worth learning!). These are the names of those top 10 languages, in order of population (according to Wikipedia): Mandarin Chinese Spanish English (2nd place if including all speakers) Hindustani Arabic Portuguese Bengali Russian Japanese Punjabi "World Languages": World languages are international languages with a huge number of both native speakers and non-native speakers. The three most agreed upon world languages are (in order): English (By far the most international) French Spanish Less strict sources include the following in this category... Mandarin Chinese Arabic Portuguese Russian German "Endangered Languages": On the other side of the list, 1,955 languages have less than 1,000 native speakers. About 692 of those languages have less than 100 native speakers, and 363 of that number have less than 10 native speakers left. About 219 of those languages exist solely as an auxiliary language and has no native speakers left at all, or exist as a constructed language that a mere handful of people, and in some cases just a single person, can speak it to varying degrees of fluency. 199 languages have unknown statistics. Apparently the least spoken native language in the world is Taushiro (Pinche), a Peruvian language spoken fluently by only one elderly man. Language distribution: Africa: 2,144 Americas: 1,061 Asia: 2,294 Europe: 287 Pacific: 1,313 Constructed languages: According to another source, there may be over 300 constructed languages in total. Eperanto is by far the most successful of all constructed languages, having close to two million speakers around the world, and now even has a small population of native speakers (children taught Esperanto as one of their first languages by their parents). It is said to be one of the easiest spoken languages to learn, and along with Latin and Koine Greek, is even taught in some Universities (as well as in one primary school in Brazil). The complete Bible has been translated into Esperanto. Klingon (from Star Trek) is an actual constructed language that has up to 30 speakers. Apparently parts of the Bible have been translated into Klingon too. @Qapla Sign language stats: Out of the 137 sign languages, the most used is Chinese Sign Language, while the most international is American Sign Language (part of the French Sign Language family). Some sign languages have a written form, tho few people can read them. Oldest living language: Hebrew. Since Jehovah God blessed Shem, it's reasonable to assume that Shem's language was not affected when God confused the language of the disapproved people at Babel. Abram the Hebrew was a direct decendent of Shem (see the lineage: Genesis 11:10-26), and would have spoken the same language as his direct ancestor. Therefore, altho the original Hebrew has changed dramatically over time into its modern decendent language, the oldest living language would probably be Hebrew ~ as well as most likely being the oldest language of humankind. In Paradise will we all return to speaking the original language, Hebrew? Or will God create a brand new language for us? We will have to wait an see... Brothers, does anyone else have this problem when trying to subscribe to JW News? I click the subscribe button and this black page with white letters of a code language appears. In this case I tried it on my smartphone, I haven't tried it on my computer yet.

Hi all, I was thinking about ordering some badges and other items with the jw.org logo to give as gifts. One of the brothers mentioned to me that I should be careful as the society have the logo copyrighted... I don't want to do anything wrong, does anyone know if there are any issues with the logo and if there are "official" (approved) sites where I can order badges, t-shirts etc. Has anyone had any correspondence with guidelines read at the meetings, perhaps I missed it. Any information would be appreciated, Rose

Has anyone noticed that the links from the scan code in Watchtower or Awake public editions always point to the home page of JW.org? I think this is irregular behavior. IMHO. Those scan code links are supposed to take one to the magazines online. -

When you want to share some information from the Watchtower Online Library, it's easy to copy the link to a whole publication, an article, a subtitle or a page. But is there a way to point to a specific paragrah? For example, this is today's WT article: http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2015047 But can I point specifically to, say, paragraph 15? I think there must be a way, since when you search for a word and click on one of the links it goes directly to the paragraph, but I don't know how to copy that link. -

I know the Society is not supported by advertising, and doesn't put ads on jw.org. But a friend of mine keeps seeing ads on the site on his computer! I don't see any on mine, but on jw.org and the Watchtower Online Library he sees random words double underlined. For example, he was reading something on the online library about Job, and the name Job was double underlined. He moved his mouse over it, and a popup ad appeared advertising a job search website! Reading the article in Insight about "Tentmaker," he found ads about camping! I shudder to think what kind of ads he would see in an article about spiritism! Has anyone else seen things like this? Has someone hacked into his computer? Is it a virus? (He has McAfee anti-virus protection.) More importantly, how does he get rid of the ads?

Hi, I am towards the end of finishing my first novel: there are certain sections of it that I start with a Bible scripture that introduce or shed light on the subject. According to "Terms of Use" on the jw.org website http://www.jw.org/apps/index.html?option=YRTNYGRsZF&txtCMSLang=E, "Site visitors may download copyrighted materials from this site for non-commercial use only." Does that mean I cant "copy & paste" verses and use them in my (yes: commercial) novel? I know that the highly esteemed and priceless translation work belongs the the Society, but is there a "Bible exception? Or would i really have to use a Bible Translation that is free to use? Thx for Your input. -
The more I explore JW.org, the more I am ecstatic about the excellent job the brothers are doing in maintaining the site, keeping it both current and useful. I just found out that for some reason, all my Awake! pdf files that I have collected over the last few years are missing from my hard drive and devices. I have no idea why, but I will assume it in a sync error of some kind. Anyhow, I just checked out JW.org and all the PDF's dating back to January 2010 are still available to download. I'm so happy I can restore the collection. It's the little things that count. What are you really digging about JW.org?
