Getting a job in Retail

So my Son goes to school next yr & this will mean I have a little bit more time.

I have often thought about going into retail. Maybe something like David Jones or anything I can be trained in.

 

All I have done is Mechanics & Cleaning etc, & Now Mum also.

I would like to broaden my skills in some ways. & hopefully work part time As well as ministry.

So is there any one on the forum who works in this field & how have you found it?

any advice & tips would be great thanks.

Now that I know what David Jones is, I would only suggest that if/when you apply for this type of work you are firm about not working meeting times and you can get Assemblies/Conventions off - retailer LOVE to schedule you when THEY want you to work, not necessarily when you CAN work.

There are also bosses/supervisors that will schedule you when they KNOW you cannot work just because they can.

That said, there are many brothers/sisters who do just fine in this type of work.

My wife drives a fork-lift - she never thought she would do that kind of work but has now been doing it for several years.
