You won't believe me, Ray, but thermal underwear is not popular here. Women wear nylon tights in winter when it is -30°C.

What ??????  This world is just amazing !

Here in Melbourne when gets to a ..let say + 10 C in winter we have THERMAL-MANIA !

Photo from my Bible tour of the British Museum

The Cyrus Cylinder, a nine-inch-long (23 cm) clay document, commemorates Cyrus’ conquest of Babylon and the liberation of exiles, including Jews. The cylinder has been called “one of the most important discoveries in biblical archaeology.”

Here's a pic I took last July as I drove across Nebraska...

It's near Gibbon on the I80 and it's noted in the map as being the 'Great Platte River Road Archway.'

Can anyone tell us what it actually is all about?

From Wikipedia

About[edit]

Designed by a Walt Disney team, The Archway spans more than 300 feet over Interstate 80 west of Kearney, Nebraska and weighs nearly 1,500-tons.[1] The Archway takes visitors along the trails, rails, highways and superhighways in a self-guided audio tour that includes stories of the travelers along the way.[1] The show starts in the 1840s with the Mormon trailOregon trail and California trail that converged at the nearby Fort Kearny before heading west. As visitors progress through the exhibit, the displays of different time periods feature a buffalo stampede, the Mormon Handcart Expedition, gold seekers, the Pony Express, the telegraph, the transcontinental railroad, the Lincoln Highway, a drive-in movie and a 1950s cafe.[1] A new exit (Exit 275) immediately east of The Archway provides easy access. Exit 272 (to Kearney) also provides access to The Archway.

Just come back from a Pacific cruise.  Visited New Caledonian Bethel in Noumea, and found sisters in a market in Port Vila.  Had an excellent time!

Great pictures everyone has posted here! Now it gives me some ideas about places to visit! :)

Here is some from Chicago...man-made not nature :(  Love, love nature and quiet but the odd times need some "excitement" so I go to a big city.

Chicago was quite nice to visit - sorry Chicagoan not to live! These pictures are posted because it is amazing how someone comes with the idea of making a glass floor so you can see the city from above :)

La Digue Island in Seychelles (I could only use bike on the island because cars are not allowed)

Great picture! Must have had a great time there? I am originally from Madagascar and this looks a lot like it! (the 2 islands are very close but Seychelles is often said to be much more beautiful) :)
