You usually can't see the Mighty Mac in winter,

cuz it's snowin' and blowin' too hard through the Straits. :D

Here's The Mighty Mac at night:

And this is The Mackinac Bridge Walk.  40,000 people walked the five miles

across, this year.  The Bridge Authorities allow pedestrian traffic just once a year,

on Labor Day:

Thanks, Brother Ray.  It's fun to hunt for photos on Google. ^_^

Our farm is about 150 miles from The Mighty Mac.

Residents of the U.P. are known as Yoopers.

Yooper

(noun) : U.P.: abreviation of Upper Peninsula of Michigan, as a distinct region, designates its populace as "Yoopers". The earliest published use, by the Dictionary of American Regional English is August 5, 1979. The Escanaba Daily Press published a contest to name the folks who live in the UP. Nominated by Brett Crawford of Bark River: Yooper...

Yooper: a heartfelt self-description of one in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, past or present. —Dictionary of American Regional English.

We 'Yoopers' refer to folks who live below Da Bridge, in Michigan's Lower Peninsula, as "Trolls".  :D

I went for another drive this week...

Along the way I took a photo of a Gymea Lily, a pretty and very large flower (or close-coupled bunch of flowers?) on the top of a fat green stem about 20' tall. Unfortunately the memory card in the camera has malfunctioned and I can't access the photo! I'm working on it.

So I had to revert to the emergency measure, taking pics with the dumb phone. It's amazing what some ordinary agricultural background can look as you drive along... and rapeseed is quite spectacular when it's in flower:

I'm guessing it's a busy time for the bees!

We drove thru Wounded Knee and left some literature with some locals, including a printout of only brochure in Dakota,Lakota.

Unemployment is very high in area, seems everyone has hand out. It is so sad.

Maybe someone may be reached by good news message found in literature we left.

Well, I was bitten by the travel bug many years ago at a youthful age so I took advantage of my singleness to travel to 6 international conventions and 9 Bethel Branch tour visits on 5 continents over a 10 year period. But alas..those days are past. (Still got the desire "to get up and go sometimes".)

Then too, most of my precious memories with Jah's people are on non-digital devices/equipment so I cannot upload them here unfortunately. Sorry about that.

I hope to get there next year...

There and Custer National Park, and of course I will go to the Crazy Horse carving again. Somewhere between Yellowstone and Iowa, I think I'll be dropping down to Iowa on my way East next time.
