Ques for the husbands here

Recommended Posts

I apologize in advance about this to the sisters - don't mean to ruffle any feathers.

Brothers, how do you handle PMS with your wife???  There is a period of about 4 days that my wife turns from Dr. Jekyll into Mrs. Hyde!  It is brutal!  It almost will get to the point where I want to check into a hotel until its gone.

Help!

Perhaps a SISTER who is NOT currently experiencing PMS could answer this for you brothers.

I posted in another thread ... about the heart having a sac of hormones surrounding it - so when someone becomes ill with heart disease or undergoes a heart operation - because these 'hormones' have been disturbed quite literally change the personality of the person. I remember my father used to have the most severe mood swings but it wasn't until I found out this from a surgeon that I understood why.

Us ladies have a similar occurence ... and i for one HATE myself when it happens ... it's like for those few days we have no idea who we are - it's like another person is present and saying and doing things that isn't the real me. Our hormones are all askewed.

It's very difficult for men to understand this change because for those few days - they can't do ANYTHING right!

All I can do is assure you brothers your wives love you very much and they don't mean anything they say or do in those few days. In fact if they are like me, they feel really bad afterwards.

The best thing you can do is really learn about your wife's cycle - when it's going to happen and prepare yourself. Even be clever and buy her some flowers before it happens and tell her you love her no matter what transformation she undergoes for the next few days and when she does act out of her personality - don't react, just point at your flowers and say ... remember I love you.

Just an idea and if anyone wants my husband's phone number so you can suggest the flower thing to him, please pm me privately.

Just hang in there brothers we sisters really appreciate your long suffering. xxx

Sometimes going to a naturopath is beneficial.. It helped my wife and in turn me.. If not you will develop long suffering

Zeph 3:17 Jehovah your God is in the midst of you. As a mighty One, he will save. He will exult over you with rejoicing. He will become silent in his love. He will be joyful over you with happy cries....... Love it....a beautiful word picture.

*coughs softly*

May I humbly add the following for consideration.

1) Men's testosterone, for instance, varies and goes up and down four or five times an hour.
2) There are daily cycles with testosterone being higher in the morning and lower at night.
3) Men have a monthly hormonal cycle that is unique to each man, but men can actually track their moods and recognize they are related to hormonal changes through the month.
4) We know that there are seasonal cycles with testosterone higher in November and lower in April.
5) We know about hormonal cycles with males during adolescence, but also the years between 40 and 55 have what we call male menopause or andropause.
6) Finally, we know there are hormonal changes in men going through IMS, related to stress in a man's life.

Not saying a thing ... just find it interesting.

This isn't something that a brother can make a decision on for their wives. But, I can tell you that not using disposable sanitary products, can make a HUGE difference in the hormones that cause PMS symptoms. Personally since I stopped using disposable products, I have like zero symptoms. No bloating, pain, cramps, or crazy thoughts/feelings/emotions.

Ok Brother I encourage my hubby buy hitting. Hugs hugs hugs. Hugs,,& Flowers & Chocolates. LOLS.

really don't take this as a biased opinion but just showing some love & Kind thoughts to your wife will work out  better for you. than if you look to start a fight about an issue. Guys sometimes think a subject must be dealt with when this sensitive time is coming up. & Sometimes its not a good time.  I try to say to My Hubby in a polite way you know I will think over what needs to be dealt with & come back when I am in a better frame of mind. Even Primrose oil pills help some. Heat packs are a must.

Even if possible offering to make dinner for her or buy every now & then means so much to a woman when in that time.

TO advise a guy. You might get a flu every now & then. But Its worse than the Flu.

Hope this helps. Just tell  her you love her a lot. :)
