According to plate tectonics this will happen in about 100 million years from now.

So, yes - sometime in the New System - over 100 million years from now - the continents will come together again.

Plan ahead as if Armageddon will not come in your lifetime, but lead your life as if it will come tomorrow (w 2004 Dec. 1 page 29)

We can't say for sure because we don't know how Adam and Eve's sin affected the Earth.  According to astrophysics, for example, our sun will eventually go nova and burn the Earth up.  Since this is contrary to Jehovah's purpose, we know he will step in in some way.  Likewise, we don't know if Jehovah will step in and stop the continental drift.

I'm moving this to General Talk since it's definitely not about a subject of deep scriptural research.

Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things.

Actually, our sun doesn't have enough mass to go supernova. Instead - in a little over 5 to 5.5 billions years - once the hydrogen is nearly depleted - it will enlarge to a red giant. This process would engulf the Earth. Then in another 100 million years when the helium is exhausted it will enlarge again and cool into a white dwarf. Lastly, in another 100 million years or so it will go black.

Does Jehovah have something else planned in the next 5 billion years. I don't know, but there is plenty of time for that.

As for the continents they were moving long before there was an Adam and Eve, while there was an Adam and Eve and after. The flood no doubt had an affect, but once the waters subsided the process would have gone back to its usual pace.

Does Jehovah have plans to stop the natural planetary cycles? I have not read anything about that in the Bible. Instead, it says the natural cycles will continue. (Genesis 8:22). But, I am happy to see what Jehovah has in store and to learn more about our amazing planet.

It should also be noted that scientists have stated that mountains in the past were much lower than at present, and some mountains have even been pushed up from under the seas. As to the present situation, it is said that “there is ten times as much water by volume in the ocean as there is land above sea level. Dump all this land evenly into the sea, and water would cover the entire earth, one and one-half miles deep.” (NationalGeographic, January 1945, p. 105) So, after the floodwaters fell, but before the raising of mountains and the lowering of seabeds and before the buildup of polar ice caps, there was more than enough water to cover “all the tall mountains,” as the inspired record says.—Ge 7:19.

With the sudden opening of the ‘springs of the watery deep’ and “the floodgates of the heavens,” untold billions of tons of water deluged the earth. (Ge 7:11) This may have caused tremendous changes in earth’s surface. The earth’s crust, which is relatively thin and varied in thickness, is stretched over a rather plastic mass thousands of kilometers in diameter. Hence, under the added weight of the water, there was likely a great shifting in the crust. In time new mountains evidently were thrust upward, old mountains rose to new heights, shallow sea basins were deepened, and new shorelines were established, with the result that now about 70 percent of the surface is covered with water. This shifting in the earth’s crust may account for many geologic phenomena, such as the raising of old coastlines to new heights.

I don't read that reference as suggesting that there was no movement in the earth's crust before the flood.  Even the Bible Stories book has a picture of the early earth with significant geological activity.

In very simple terms, the crust moves because the earth has a mantle.  Any suggestion that in the paradise Jehovah will intercede to prevent any tectonic or volcanic activity is pure conjecture.  Of course, never say never but it's one of those things that we shall never know until we are there.

Genesis 1:9 - the earliest occurance of plate movement -

let the dry land appear. And it was so.

In the New World we will have so much to learn and perfect minds to learn it with - very exciting! :bouncing:

We are going to develop really strong muscles and be excellent swimmers. (The sharks won't bother us then).

We don't need to be good swimmers In 1 Kings 10:22, king Solomon had fleet ships coming to him and traded. Jesus is the greater Solomon Mathew 12:42. so, in the new world there will be a lot of shipping or importing going on under the greater Solomon, Jesus. 1 Kings 10 chpt give us a glimpse of what is going to happen under Jesus rule.

Be easier and quicker to swim than build a ship. Good exercise.

I will be to lazy to swim. I rather be on the ship and drinking cold beer in a coconut. or maybe drinking chocolate in a coconut. Since I been thinking about this, now I'm sea sick.

Did someone say chocolate! :bouncing:

Wow! That New System is going to be great! And I like swimming too - with sharks.

Hey, do they taste like bacon? :lol2:

Well off to pray that He comes quickly!

Rev 22:20

"He that bears witness of these things says, 'Yes; I am coming quickly.'"

"Amen! Come, Lord Jesus."

(Genesis 1:26) . . .let them have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens. . .
...in order to travel wherever they need to ! Like we do use horses, camels etc to walk on the earth. Easy!
