     A couple of sideglances about a worldly tradition occurring annually about this time of year, at least in the US.

i.) My neighbor brings her grandson to trunk or treat. A sizable group of adults gather their autos in a large vacant parking lot and open their car trunks (aka boot, dicky, cargo compartment) where they have stuffed all the sugary hi-glycemic refined carbohydrates that they can afford.  The adult companions release the little beggars, perhaps with a bag and a flashlight (torch), to hit up the trunk owners in record time. This affords the tykes to acquire an exponential amount of these so-called treats. (treat = a euphemism for teeth-damaging, weight dis-enhancing, potential diabetic type B predictors)  

ii.) Why not name it what it really is? An opportunity for grown or semi-grown females to dress like courtesans while strolling along a street that may not commonly be used by pro  street-walkers. 

      New Paragraph: On the flip-side- Reportedly, Cruella-types have buried nails, glass,  and razor  blades in these so called treats. Some of these hidden treasures have found their way into the path of unwitting and always hungry canines or felines. A number of police stations stay open to put goody bags through metal detectors. Does not pick up on many late additions like glass shards.  What's not to like?
