If its so why is such an important update we can not find in the instruction on JW.ORG? :)

Maybe because You don't live in Ghana?

I think the first trickle of letters should be arriving today and tomorrow. By the end of the week it will be a flood. Sooner or later it should reach network news here in the west.

I am not sying I am Superman, I am only saying that nobody has ever seen Superman  and me in a room together.

I think blacksnow was referring just to courier services, and perhaps this is why we have been asked to send it mail, to avoid complications. (Unless of course it's come through your congregation to do otherwise).

Courier service is DHL, UPS ETC. Not US Mail or other mail.

An update on the letter writing: for parcels to be delivered by courier service in Russia, the address should also have the recipient's telephone number. Anybody aware of this?

BlackSnow is right. In some towns here our Brothers couldn't send the letters because the respective post offices asked them the phone number of the addressee  (they said that they received a memo asking for that). So we received a letter with the respective phone numbers to use ONLY if REALLY NECESSARY. But most of us could send the letters without any problem.

I was at the post office today meet about 5 witnesses in the line we are going to flood them with letters  lol

The lady who did my last lot, ignored where they were going completely - either she knew the story behind and wasn't in favour of it or she was just simply disinsterested, got a very cool reception. Quite disappointed was all ready to tell them our story - had jw.org cards and everything. Ahh well ...ill just have to make do with everyone elses experiences.

How can you be a day ahead of every one else and still be behind the times?

You got me there ... they are more concerned about what is going on in NZ even its about politicians and their affairs than what is going on around the world.  A wasted opportunity, to be in NZ, a day ahead of most and let that opportunity slip by. *shakes her head.

I have fond memories of Puyallup Assembly Hall, almost drowned there back in 1981.  :D   Do they still have the on grounds campsites available for qualified brothers ?

I had been going to the Puyallup assembly hall just recently. There is no more camping on the grounds. But there is at least 2 homes on the grounds that house the caretakers. It's a lovely building!

A sister just forwarded a picture to my wife that she said she had received from a sister in Russia. The picture is supposedly a post office in Russia full of boxes of our letters.

I noticed all of the boxes said United States Postal Service  so I doubt that it is actually a picture of our letters in a Russian post office. Has anyone else received the same picture?

BTW: I don't want to muddy the water by posting the picture and risk it being taken out of context...

Hi all! What exciting times eh?

Well, tonight I wrote my letter, and all that needs to be done now is to go to the library tomorrow to type it out and then mail it.

This is what it says (after the customary addresses on the letter as in business letter style, including the ending):

My name

Address

Date

Official's Title

Officials Name

Address

RE: JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES

Dear Mr. President Putin:

Greetings!

I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses, responding in behalf of my fellow witnesses. That being said, I can say, without any doubt, that we are law abiding, and moral citizens. Our activities include encouraging love of God, neighbor, family, and respect for government.

Therefore, we are definitely not "extremist" or criminals. Since the preceeding words concerning our character are accurate, wouldn't you agree, sir, that our publications are also not extremist or criminal?

Since being one of Jehovah's Witnesses, it has improved my life to such a degree that it has made me a better person, a better woman, a better mother, a better citizen.

Please reconsider banning my fellow witnesses. Please reconsider dissolving our kingdom halls.

I trust you will take the above into kind consideration.

Thank you for listening.

Sincerely,

Luezette Thompson

Now. Lol. I hope the above is one page. Of course the fonts can always be adapted. Oh! And nope...the entire letter will not be in bold...in case y'all wondering, lol. It was bolded here to make it stand out more.

Yes I have seen it ... i was told it was post office in the USA and the letters were on their way to Russia. But that is unsubstantiated at this stage.

The picture I have seen has many red envelopes. My guess is it is a pic from when Netflix via mail was popular. Not completely sure.

BTW, for Aussies out there, the $2.95 red stamp is for "international mail", so don't have to worry about the air mail sticker.  I checked with the Postmaster today.

Except, due to experience,  I don't trust Aust Post so I would rather be safe than sorry. If we don't need them why do they have them. :)

Don't give up .. it's just around the corner.

Sounds like the same picture. The message the sister had received and shared with my wife was that the letters had arrived in Russia and the local brothers were greatly encouraged. I suspect that isn't correct...

I actually had it featured on facebook for a wee bit then deleted it because it didn't feel right.

I can confirm this is the same in Canada.  When I initially went to mail my letter, I asked for delivery prior to April 5.  I was told that it was $83 and that it was mandatory to have a phone number for the recipient.
