Updates to JW Library (iOS, Android, Windows)

I find it still lacks certain things, such as the ability to find the occurrences of a word in all the publications and being able to sort through that. 
Also, if you’re looking for a Topic from an  Reseach Publication and you don’t have that publication downloaded it won’t show.

Yes, it is lacking for now. But at least we are heading toward that possibility.

Universal (publication) search is now in jw library 🎉

I was hoping that now typing a cite in they Bible tab --like Acts 1:8-- would take us directly to that text. Still is for words only.

Maybe next time.

The update arrived on Windows yesterday, but since I installed it, JW Library crashes as soon as I open it.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

I find that, on Windows 11, my JW Library app often goes down after opening, at a point when I select an option. Once I reopen the app, it seems to be ok. This has been going on for a while, and is not specifically connected to recent updates.

No.  I have four Windows 11 devices (3 desktop computers and 1 Surface laptop).  They all function normally (open correctly and stay open).

I just wanted to update my comment and add a tip.

Although you cannot find a verse in JWL (yet), if you click at  "Search in JW.ORG" at the bottom, it DOES the search online. It's a great feature, isn't it?

I still don't have it on my Apple devices.  I did download it on Windows.

 

Note: since it is on Windows, I do my research on WTL , not the app.

In my Android phone it updated automatically. But in my Android tablet and in my Windows laptop, I had to update the app from the store.

Something my JWLibrary app has been doing for a while (and through several updates) is whenever I open the Insight book and type something in the search bar, it crashes the whole app.  But if I reopen the app and try it again, it will work the second time and everytime thereafter.

By the way, I totally understand why we don't have the "Condordance" in our library on the app, because we changed a lot of the wording with the 2013 revision of the New World Translation, but I still wish they would provide it because a lot of us remember the old wording and can still use it to find useful scriptures.  Now, with that being said - if the Concordance is on the app I haven't found it yet and if someone has - PLEASE feel free to point me in the right direction.

I found a 'workaround'.

If you are searching for a word or phrase you remember from the early NWT, switch your app to the 'reference' Bible. The search will then find it. 

TIP:  Don't forget to switch back to the 'Study' Bible before the next meeting. Lol

PS It works with all Bibles. Eg: I recently searched for 'unicorn' in the KJV 🦄 .

You can also switch from the study Bible to the nwt and then select index then Bible index.

Forgetting to switch back has happened to me! 

 

I think this is  'workaround' for the forgetting to switch back but to search the rbi8, KJV etc. 

 

Try this for an example: if you're in the meeting tab,

go to Watchtower study for this week,

  tap on the theme scripture,

    then tap on the Bible heading for the desired already downloaded Bible translation (ie: KJV). For this week that would open KJV of James 5.

      Once the chapter is open you are in the KJV and a Search icon is an option. Once I was in the KJV I searched for 'unicorn' like you mentioned.

 

Tapping on my Bible tab showed me my main Bible was still selected as the study Bible NWT. 

 

This way seemed easy to me because when inspiration strikes me, I'm often already in a publication and can quickly access the desired translation with a few taps. Writing it out showed me it's more complicated than I initially thought. haha. (Just a few weeks ago a visiting brother gave his public talk on zoom because of poor travel conditions and he was reading from the reference Bible. So easy for any of us to forget.)
