Updates to JW Library (iOS, Android, Windows)

There's a nice morning worship segments about putting up with other friends imperfections on JW Broadcasting. It continues to help me with my feelings.

"there was Jehovah’s word for him, and it went on to say to him: “What is your business here, E·lijah?" To this (Elijah) he said: “I have been absolutely jealous for Jehovah the God of armies"- 1 Kings 19:9, 10 Reference Bible

I've been working on a major attitude readjustment.  When I see that other people, even elders, don't care (about the music, cleaning of the hall, if the elderly get the convention or not) then I noticed I started developing a "I don't care attitude" too.  I'm trying to turn that all around even though nothing has changed at my hall.  I'm saying yes to whatever I'm asked to do instead of making an excuse as to why I can't and since the elders don't approach me - I approach them now and ask them how they are and thank them for what they do.  I've already noticed it's made a big difference with at least two of my elders (and their wives!).  It also helps me to handle the things that aren't getting done better.  Even if no one else cares - I will because I'm doing it for Jehovah, no one else (but in the process, it is helping others and myself!)

You have a fine voice. You are free to talk about your concerns with the brothers. But, you know, sometimes even within a BoE, a dissenting brother will have to follow the decisions of the BoE as a whole, and promote that view. It does not mean he cannot talk about his concerns with the brothers should need arise.

Yes... but you KNOW it is different for sisters.  Always has been, always will be.  If there are brothers who are keen to hear the respectful suggestions/questions from sisters, that is a true blessing.  But it is not always the case and, well... it just is what it is. :(  Everything doesn't have to be optimized, right?  And being thought of as a "complaining sister"... that's a reputation that doesn't go away easily.

Although Brigette -- I'd DEFINITELY let the CO know that you were not allowed to partake of the entire convention because of your volunteer assignment, even though provisions are available.  It may not be advantageous to fuss about the music, etc. but we ALL need to fight for our food... that is our right and it's from Jehovah!  That is just wrong.  Wrong.

Wrong.

I may mention it because we also have an elderly sister in our congregation that because of health reasons could not make the convention and she has no electronic devices, but she does have a DVD player and t.v.  The elders would not allow me to make a copy for her to watch at home at her leisure.  Instead, they are making her go to another elders house to watch all 18 hours of the convention there!  It makes me feel bad too because it's like they think I'm going to take the convention copy and sell it or misuse it somehow.  All I wanted to do was help this sister.

I need to put this matter of copy or no copy of the convention to rest - and the CO will be the best person to do that for me.

The conventions are not secrets to be kept from the elderly and infirm. When we had a visit by a representative from the headquarters to the branch, they even made sure a brother who was confined to a hospital could have a brother sit next to him and make sure the streaming to this brother's digital device would work just fine. This way, he could see the same stream as those at the Kingdom Hall at the same time. He was even officially counted as being present. (And so was the brother who tended to his needs).

Video streaming?  I didn't think that was allowed either.

There is always a stream made from this special occasion to the congregations in the territory, and to elderly and infirm who cannot attend. Who fulfils the criteria is at the discretion of the BoE. In some areas congregations are testing streaming the meetings even, if there's a need.

Found a bug in the Windows version.

Click on the Meeting button, then Show Media, then More Songs.  It takes you to Publications rather than to the Songs.

Fixed.

Seems like they added the button that goes from pdf to regular. It wasn't there for my Tuesday meeting. All for windows 10 devices.

Is this new with the recent update or did I just now see it?

In the meeting tab you can open the ‘media’, start a song and then press the back button and open the lyrics while the music is playing. I’m loving this! (Windows 10)

I tried this on my Android phone which doesn’t have the update yet. I can start the music then hit the back button but the lyrics don’t show. Soon maybe?

We had a letter mentioning to use the orchestral version now.

What your talking about has been there a while. In my iPad , you can also go the audio files, tap the continuous or mixed icon and when the music starts playing, close the app and the music keeps playing.

I can play the continuous/mixed  music and go elsewhere in the app or open another window (such as here) and the music continues. But if I close the app it stops.

Sure hope they give the capablity to see the song lyrics while the music is playing in Android too!  I know there are some things that apple has that they got long ago (like dictionary and topic button) that obviously Android will never have, or we'd of gotten it by now.

Well, I'm on Android and use this update for 2 days now. It works great (there's one bug - the buttons of the media bar do not always work as they should). You can even close the application and the song will continue until conclusion.

The dictionaries are native to iOS. It's a good feature. The topic thing only works with English, I believe.

Maybe you meant - the lyrics to appear automatically after playing the song (?) (sorry I missunderstood)  No ... that does not work. I don't see the need for that as long as you can navigate wherever you want (and get the lyrics) while the music is playing.

I'm really jealous of the "topic" button! Android can do the same thing through 'search' but the topic button is immediate!
