Consumer Reports is recommending me a Subaru Forester. Thoughts? Recommendations?

Have you seen the September Consumer Reports magazine? It has a large list of used cars that it recommends.

I only see it online, on their website. But I saw their lists of recommended used SUVs. The Subaru Crosstrek and Subaru Forester, Honda CR-V get high ratings. Just curious if anyone here had a Subaru and liked it.

My old car was called a Rolls Canardly, because while it rolls down the hills it can hardly get up them. (The poorer end of English humour)

I had one of those back in 1970. Loved telling people. Even more fun when they road with me.

They were the poorer-made cousins of Rolls Royce too.

However, you would curse any automobile that was made in England that LUCAS components, as they always broke down. Because LUCAS was the acronym for Left Us Cold And Stranded.

We used to have an expression over here about one make of car, it went: 'bits of tin and bits of board, put together make a Ford'. However many know that Ford cars are reliable cars.

Winter is approaching. Do any of you put studded tires on your vehicles? What kind of tires do you like to use?

Leviticus 19:18: “‘You must not take vengeance nor hold a grudge against the sons of your people, and you must love your fellow man as yourself.”

I imagine that winter gets pretty gnarly up in them Scottish Highlands, especially with how windy that weather gets up there.

In Alaska we generally use tire chains only for very deep snow, otherwise everybody uses studs rather than chains.

My favorite are the Nokian Hakkepalitas

Leviticus 19:18: “‘You must not take vengeance nor hold a grudge against the sons of your people, and you must love your fellow man as yourself.”
