Zoom, Skype Technical Q&A here:

Hello! I discovered a way to have a virtual monitor without any application, only with a driver that is installed on the computer. I use in windows with JW Library on this monitor and do the screen capture with OBS Studio and send as virtual camera to Zoom. I made a tutorial teaching. It is in Portuguese, but seeing the video can understand. You can take the driver part and share the virtual monitor screen in Zoom.

Isn't this just the same as turning on the view media in second screen option in JW library and then capturing the window, except there's the added complication of OBS and OBS virtual Camera drivers being in the middle of it all? 😁

But it does work fine for capturing other apps.

Não é o mesmo que ativar a opção de exibição de mídia na segunda tela na biblioteca JW e, em seguida, capturar a janela, exceto que há a complicação adicional de drivers de câmeras virtuais OBS e OBS estarem no meio de tudo isso? 😁

Mas funciona bem para capturar outros aplicativos.

It’s more for a specific use. For those who want to have a virtual monitor without needing applications, to leave the screen free, and for those who have lag problems when sharing the screen.

Ok, I understand now.

I have used OBS in a similar way as a virtual camera capture device and it worked well.

I've used obs studio successfully to record a zoom meeting.

But it couldn't record the sound from my own microphone for a zoom meeting as I get acoustic feedback when I include my own microphone in obs studio.

However, flashback express records a zoom meeting well (including my own microphone)

I use techsmith's SnagIt to record all contents of screens that I have.

I use it and I love it. It really improve the quality of the video transmission.

Specially in Talks and meeting parts, Easier to show images and videos, with no sharing screen delays.

But that is just my opinion. I was just wondering how many brothers like it. That's all.

Well what I did it I wash few videos on YouTube to how to use OBS studio to transmit video to Zoom.
Practically you use a virtual camera to transmit on Zoom.
Like you all know in zoom application you can choose any camera that you have available.
For better options you need to use a green screen for the virtual background.

Thank you, thank you for the information.

Using OBS Virtual Camera is great.  Used it for the timer as well as images in public talks.  If using it for images, then you need to be spotlighted so everyone sees you in speaker mode.  Otherwise the image will be small in gallery view.  And you can use fade in/out effects.

And mixing your camera feed with images, like a split screen,  camera on the left, with the picture to the right.

I tried this and it seemed to work out well

I use it to display the meeting clock onto zoom, but haven't played too much yet!

How easy is that whilst giving a talk?

After setting up my amazon green screen kit yesterday and looking at the YouTube videos, it is extremely easy, if you set it up in advance. I have an image today while I set up with the cobe before he was going for some LDC training in which he let me take over his assignment that he does normally. The other images are what I could have done for my talk last Saturday-Move Ahead With Jehovah's Unified Organization.

Hindsight, lol.

While I was typing the above out, my cobe called me and said there will be new zoomist released to the avs group soon. He told me that it came out yesterday or day before.

New info is coming out. YAY.

In most of the instruction Announcements, there are a series of things the elders must decide.  there are things that are recommended or just left up to the local brothers to use or not. these A/V decisions may vary somewhat depending on location, equipment, skill, software and personal taste.  Your group maybe about to implement some of these decisions.  I hope they benefit your congregation....♥️

An example: my son-in-laws congregation just stopped using the "reaction" button at the bottom of the screen.  Like us, they simplified the button to just "Raise Hand" button.  We have a lot of older or less tech savvy people who need simplicity.

It has been a long time since I did it.  Go to Zoom, sign-in, go to settings, at bottom of the page is "more settings" and click on this.  It takes to the Zoom page.  Choose "settings" on left side.  A long list appears.  Scroll down quite a ways and you will find a single line about meeting reactions.  The choice explains the option to use in meeting claps (applause), and so on.  Turn the button on the right to "OFF".  I think that was all I did.

OK Guys, I'm trying to use the "play videos on second display" option in JW Library with only 1 physical display. Well, I have a brother trying it with the hope that when he shares his screen he can select that 'second' screen and the audience only sees the video, not all the clicks and such as I mentioned. But when he does that, it works once but after that he can't get the 'second screen' back without restarting JW Library. Any ideas?

All of the elders can read the announcements. The cobe and secretary don't have any special read privileges on the web site.

An update on an unrelated matter.

From discussing about the new arrangement for assisting friends in the local congregations about how to make donations in the may 2021 announcements for elders, he clearly mention to me-account servant, another ms-account assistant and a new elder that there is some information they they receive as secretary(who held the brief zoom meeting) and cobe that the other elders on the body may not have privy to. (I guess for a bit of time.)

That was the point that I was trying to make.

The "Announcements" S-147 or monthly letters are addressed to "The Elders".  If the branch needs to talk to a COBE about a directional matter not for elders it would not be addressed to them as a group.  In the past, the CO sent special letters to the COBE (or met with them on Zoom).  It was not especially because it was secret but to save repetition and bandwidth.  They were instructed to convene a short elder's meeting and share what was said.

Over the 55 years of congregation service (even before there was an "elder" arrangement)...I believe I have held every assignment in the congregation.  The last time I was "COBE" it was called "Presiding Overseer"...😎

I may be misiterpreting something but afaik all the letters are open to all the elders, even if it is directed to the cobe or to the secratary. Even the emails the CO sends to the cobe have all the elders in copy  (That's how the current CO does at least because I don't have more experience)

Br. Joao, In our Circuit, due to the pandemic, our CO used to update the COBEs (at least monthly on conditions, new instructions or directions for the circuit, (food distribution, covid-19, etc).  He tried to make it a circuit-wide elder's Zoom conference call for a couple of months in a row. But the Branch told him to stop.  There was a system of information distribution and CO was not to bypass the arrangement.

I suppose he could have just contacted every publisher in the circuit...but wouldn't that just be a Circuit Assembly?

Ministerial Servants have some access to the login side of the website.  There limitations are based on the headings (or categories) that they are allowed to view.  When I was the MS in charge of the Literature, I could see some areas.  The COBE would suggest that I review some material and then he realized that I could not access that part of the site.

Elders don't get a copy of the Branch letter to the CO, with Circuit directions.  The Congregation sees only a portion of the announcements each month that the elders get.

This is not a secret Society.  But it is a well-organized one...♥️

YEs, I was referring to the letters and announcements to the elders. All elders have the same access priviledges on the jw.org site - Sometimes we see a letter directed to the coordinator, or to the secretary, but all of us can see it

As COBE in my congregation, I can confirm that everything on the site from the branch is visible to all elders.  Sometimes, however, I will get correspondence from the branch and/or CO that's addressed to me only, or to me and the secretary (the other elders aren't cc'd).

Usually this is for administrative stuff which the secretary and COBE are supposed to handle anyway; it's never anything that's strictly for my eyes only.

This is apparently what I've been told my cobe and the secretary. That was my only point I tried to make-though imperfectly. Please can we move on with topic.
