What's happening to Journalism these days?

It's very hard to find balanced reporting these days. Indeed, for a true Christian the "NEWS" is barely even readable/watchable in many cases

The same kind of thing that's happening in India's media (as described in the linked article below) seems to be happening with Journalism in various places today.

Often, rather than simply reporting news, journalists give their opinions, which are often biased, causing division among those who read or listen to it.

Its not hard to see how the media is very much a part of Satan's system, a very effective propaganda machine that is shaping (or twisting) the minds of human society.

I like to stay informed about what's happening in the world, but we need to be very careful we don't get sucked in by such propaganda.

Biased as can be! And television "investigative reporting" is nothing but a joke. Their job is supposed to be reporting the facts, but it's hardly the case anymore. For example: In Canada there was a supposedly unbiased report on a TV network about child abuse among Jehovah's Witnesses. The report mentioned and quoted our policy on jw.org about the victim's right to report her abuse to the authorities. But immediately afterward was an interview of an apostate saying she was prevented from reporting it to the police. The host of the report concluded that Jehovah's Witnesses are not living up to their claim.

They always side with the apostates, and never question whether they are the ones not living up to their claim. It makes me so... :angry_cursing:

Yep. News organizations never allow facts to mess up a creepy, salacious story. I do chuckle myself when they simply pay token service to our actual policies because they're trying to give the false impression of an attempt at fairness.

Fortunately, most Witnesses are calibrated enough to see right through that façade.

Biased journalism and sensationalism has permeated throughout history. Thinking of Marie Antoinette, the Austrian queen of France in the 18th century. Tragic ending.

It's especially bad when it comes to covid. It's like do I choose the news source that basically says "Eh it's a cold and do whatever you want, because the curve's been flattened anyway" Or the one that constantly guilt trips people for not staying home and being an absolute hermit: "How dare you proceed with your life plans!!!!!!!!!!!"
