Capture screen video

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to capture streaming video?

We have our circuit assembly via JW-Studio tomorrow and I would like to record it (for personal use). I have several computers available that I can use to capture the stream.

I can also recommend OBS Studio. It’s a free and open-source software, (FOSS) and quite a popular program for recording purposes by many.

I’m hypothesising that, because the JW Stream-Studio file is streamed via .ts file extension, a program that is able to download such live stream videos can also be used to download the live video directly from the web site, bypassing the need to record. However, I couldn’t try this at the time of our convention so I can’t say this will work definitely.

I have recently installed OBS but it looked very complicated. Your tutorial video will help a lot. Thanks.

Let me know how it works if you decide to give it a shot, I have been wanting to try it but I had the same thought as you when I saw it lol.

Thanks - using that video tutorial I found a way to make video Zoom backgrounds of things I could not find online for use as a Zoom background

There appears to be a way to use a browser as a source. I put the link to the assembly in OBS and it opened the site. I'll know in about 30 minutes if it works..😁

When its over let us know how it worked.

It didn't.😁

I have it set up to Window capture instead. That seems to be working but I won't know for sure until the lunch break.

Using the browser as a source looked like it would work but it didn't. I had put the meeting link in OBS and it opened the site, then I resized the source window and did a couple of test recordings, everything looked good. However when the meeting started I had to "play" the meeting and I couldn't interact with the browser screen that OBS had opened. I had to close that source, play the meeting and then use the window as the source. After I resized it, it looks good. I'll check the recordings this evening.

It worked!

The only glitch that I had was after the lunch break. The morning session recorded perfectly. I left everything alone through the lunch break and when the afternoon session started, the video didn't refresh and the first minute of my recording was just the audio and the splash screen. I minimized OBS and checked the browser window and the video refreshed on OBS, however I didn't realize it wasn't in full screen anymore, so the afternoon session has my browser Favorites bar across the top..😀
