Peace and Security, Great Tribulation, Armageddon

This raises the question in what way does the Bible connect the destruction of Jerusalem to the great tribulation?

Good question, because when the disciples asked him for a sign, Jesus mentioned several things, but he added "but the end is not yet".  Mt 24:6

The 'sign' he gave was in reference to the 'last days', which are here.  But Mt 24:21 does apply to 'the end' because it says the greatest tribulation 'such as has not occurred since the world's beginning until now, nor will occur again".

We know that the Romans took money they said was owed to them from the sacred treasury of the temple, enraging the Jews.  That sounds like something that might happen to BtG, but we're just talking about what the Bible says, and that incident is historical, not in the Bible.

The Bible speaks of the prophesy at 1 Thess 5:3, P&S, but that never happened in 66 -70.  The Bible speaks about the good news being preached until the end, but that didn't happen in 66-70.  The Bible speaks about the attack of Gog, but that didn't happen in 66-70.

We could say that Mt 24:2 "by no means will a stone be left here upon a stone and not be thrown down" applies to the great tribulation, but only to the destruction of BtG, because it stands to reason that essential infrastructure of this system will remain after Armageddon.

Where the Bible is silent, we are silent.

I don't agree with that cliche'.   A search of the Watchtower library shows the words "evidently" , "probably" and "possibly" are used thousands of times (13,125 times).  Those words appear in articles that may have nothing to do with our current understanding of scripture, but they DO appear in explanations of current understanding and adjustments from the FDS.

And, Br. Lett is known to say "It's reasonable to conclude  .   .   "    ❤️

There are many lessons and similarities and also many points that are for our time. That being said notice this footnote in the 1999 WT: [It should be noted that while the fulfillment of Jesus’ words in 66-70 C.E. can help us to understand how they will be fulfilled at the great tribulation, the two fulfillments cannot be exactly parallel because the fulfillments occur against different backdrops.]

My point was (that got a little lost), since we have left BtG, will we really be the recipient of Jehovah's wrath when she is destroyed?

No, it doesn't make sense that God's people would be subject to God's wrath. But remember, he's using humans to perform this attack. Humans often go above and beyond when it comes to harming other humans.

As has happened in the past, there's likely to be righteous people who are hurt by the humans Jehovah is using to execute his judgments. I believe it is possible that at least some of Jehovah's people might get caught up in that attack.

This is just one more of those - be prepared for the worst and be happy when it doesn't happen.

I’ve always wondered if we’ll get a part 2 to this video, some things are ambiguous, not knowing exactly the topic of the “special preaching campaign”, not knowing what literature is on the cart (he hides his jacket over) and why the topic made him “terrified”.

Also what part during the GT is this happening (if it’s during the GT)?

My husband and I turned 60 this year.  I never thought I'd be thinking of retirement in this system. I pray before I get to that Jehovah will change any plans I make. I definitely will not mind. 🙂

What’s the retirement age in the place where you live?

🙏 Thank you! 🙏

Benefits can start at 62 depending on how long you've been working. The amount will increase the longer you wait and continue to work. But Medicare (health benefits) don't start until 65. So it almost doesn't do any good to retire before 65.

  • The White House says the few issues remaining in talks to end the war are “delicate” but “not insurmountable”, as leaders of France, UK, Germany and Turkiye meet virtually to solidify European position on peace.
  • Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says that following the talks in Geneva, “we see many prospects that can make the path to peace real”.

Ukraine has said a "common understanding" has been reached with the US on a peace deal aimed at ending the war with Russia.

The proposal is based on a 28-point plan presented to Kyiv by the US last week, which American and Ukrainian officials worked on during weekend talks in Geneva.

In a post on social media, US President Donald Trump said the original plan "has been fine-tuned, with additional input from both sides".

He added: "I have directed my Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to meet with President Putin in Moscow and, at the same time, Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll will be meeting with the Ukrainians."
