Multiple bomb threats called in on planes traveling to Europe. Oddly enough, several were Ryanair.

Note to self,  don't eat taco bell before boarding Ryan Air flights to Europe....

More Presidents have been impeached than have resigned.

Impeached Presidents

Andrew Johnson

Bill Clinton

Donald Trump twice.

Presidents who resigned to avoid impeachment

Richard Nixon

I'm confused, you were the one who first said "to date no US president has been removed from office". Isn't that the same as impeachment?

No.

Impeached just means brought up on charges.

Impeachment is a formal constitutional process in which a legislative body charges a public official (such as a president, vice president, federal judge, or civil officer) with misconduct.

Andrew Johnson (1868): Impeached by the House for violating the Tenure of Office Act; acquitted in the Senate (falling one vote short of the two-thirds majority needed).

Bill Clinton (1998): Impeached by the House for perjury and obstruction of justice; acquitted in the Senate.

Donald Trump (2019): Impeached by the House for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress regarding Ukraine; acquitted in the Senate.

Donald Trump (2021): Impeached by the House for incitement of insurrection following the January 6 Capitol attack; acquitted in the Senate.

And.... Nixon was not impeached.

Richard Nixon (1974): Faced a formal House impeachment inquiry and approved articles of impeachment in the Judiciary Committee; resigned from office before a full House vote could take place.

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain the difference to me. For some reason I always believed that impreachment meant "You're outta here!".

Wouldn't it be great if Trump was so offended by the loss of the house and senate that he decided to get revenge by giving over the power of the US to the UN?

I appreciate your enthusiasm but that simply cannot happen. Trump does not have that kind of power or authority. He's not a monarch or emperor despite what he or his opponents think and express.

Nor would the UN just take control of the US like that. Everyone at the UN understands Trump lacks that kind of authority. Rulership or dominion or control of the US is not Trump's to give away and, therefore, not something another organization would accept.

Plus, that's not what the Bible says. Every country gives authority to the UN. It's not a US only thing.

But I applaud you for your efforts.

Don't take Trump's words about any deal seriously. He said this to distract the media from the Republican defeat.

He is in a hurry until January 3rd.

Someone wrote in this thread earlier about 2029. So let's wait another two years.

Yes

thats an expression us surfers use frequently

The cover is a satirical illustration of a major political event: the 2026 U.S. midterm elections

Republicans suffered a heavy defeat that The Economist describes as far larger than a normal midterm swing against the party in power.

The magazine uses a surfing metaphor:

•  Surfers call a severe wipeout a “washing machine” — when a big wave knocks you off your board and tumbles you underwater so you lose all sense of direction.

•  That’s how the magazine portrays Trump and the Republican Party after being hit by “tens of millions of American voters.”

•  They call it the biggest “wave election” since the post-Watergate era more than 50 years ago.

  • Haha 1

Agree with everything, but also "blue wave" is a popular political term for a significant electoral victory for Democrats (represented by blue), and "red wave" would refer to a significant Republican victory. The term "red/blue tsunami" is also used for an even more extreme victory.
