Inboard or Outboard - Which is best for lakes?

As was mentioned totally  :offtopic:  in another thread and a request was made to start this topic

Is better to have an outboard motor on a boat for fishing in lakes - or would an inboard be a better choice?

Many angles up here have a super quiet electic outboard to move around once you get to your favourite spot.

To get to your favourite spot, an outboard has better access for maintenance purposes. And if you ever upgrade your motor, outboard is simpler.
Then you also have to consider where to put your steering console and canopy - side or centre... so many choices.

Center console boats can give a wet ride

I would imagine it would be a little more inconvenient to refill an electric outboard than a gas one - I do prefer a 4-stroke gas over a 2-stroke ... no having to mix oil in the gas

There's also the question of a wheel or a stick for steering - or a small outboard (kicker) where you actually hold the throttle handle on the motor in the back of the boat.

Ii had an inboard motor in my skii boat and it was great for skiing and tubing but not so good for fishing. A small outboard is best for fishing IMHO.
