Acceptable (MMO)RPG?

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to weed out the distractions in my life, main one being my lifelong hobby of video games lol. Hawking my PS4 tomorrow and have decided if I pursue a hobby it will be in audio electronics... AFTER my spiritual responsibilities are taken care of first.

But I still get the itch from time to time. I haven't played a video game in... about 2 months maybe? I love the concept of resource gathering and crafting and rpg/survival type games, but most, if not all, integrate violence and occultism. Are there ANY f2p mmorpgs that are not full of satanic influence? 🤔

Misspelled itch. Autocorrect spelled it's, lol

Its gonna be really hard if not impossible.

Satan leaves us with very little if no choice at all when it comes to choosing a clean form of the kind of entertainment we love.

I used to love video games but i t was mostly the violent games that captures my interest eg mortal combat, street fighters etc

I can't enjoy video games if its not these violent ones or others like them.

When I became a Jw I decided its best for me to end that hobby in video games since I can't enjoy a clean form of it,

Sometimes I miss those games, but I can't go back to them, its a sacrifice I did it for Jehovah.

Ive left those video games for a very very long time now,I guess I've succeeded in overcoming that spiritual challenge

Another challenge I am having now is the movies,I love movies but a lot of really nice  movies are laced with immorality, violence, spiritism etc

Its so hard to choose something really nice and completely clean.

Our organization are producing clean movies for us to enjoy, I try to limit myself to these movies but sometimes I yearn to watch the lord of the rings and other adventure movies like it but I just try to stick to the new personality as much as I can.

Although,Sometimes I worry if I am not being too sensitive.

I can understand, I've always been partial to horror movies, not much else really interested me. There's a Morning Worship talk entitled Storytelling is an Effective Tool by Brother Beaux. Outside of the obvious laws we should follow when choosing entertainment, we are given guidelines and principals, and if a subject arises that there is still no yes or no answer for, we are taught to use our bible based concience. In my opinion, it is better to be "too sensitive" than too accepting of the world's influence, but again, it is a matter of one's Conscience 😉

Acceptable (MMO)RPG?

MMORPG fails at least in 2 of my criteria for acceptable games.

1- It must not have an online community, where one needs to socialize and interact with unknown and/or wordly people.

2- it must not have a persistent universe, where the game continues in background. Even when you are offline other players keep playing and may affect you game progress,

in contrast with board game where the game freezes when you stop playing. This inevitably makes one think about the game even offline, and makes it have excess game time.

The only way is to create a private Minecraft server with MMO RPG mods without magic and violence, where only brothers and sisters will play.

My English is not very good, so if you see my mistakes, please tell me in the DM

I'm a gamer and its so hard to find games to your specification. I used to be hardcore addicted to Runescape, like during high school if i wasnt on the scape, i was sadly at school. Maybe 3 hours of sleep at night, sleep more during school. On the weekends i was on it 16 hours a day minimum. The gathering, exploring, skilling, quests aspect of the game was wild to me. I had a clan mate named Artic Oscar, one day he was like "I'm quitting the game" i asked him why, and he said that "I'm a Christian and I dont feel right playing a game with false gods in it" i tried to talk him out of it telling him that its just a game and he doesnt have to pay attention to that aspect. It didnt work, the last thing he told me was he hopew I would understand what he was saying one day. This was back in.... 2009ish. I still played runescape pretty hardcore until 2015-2016, and i would just take several months break that has eventually became maybe a day or two play every year, but i noticed throughout the years they have implemented more gods and have more content revolving around them to the point that you cant do much without having something related to one of them shoved in your face. Not to mention they introduced the Necromancy skill last year.

Though even my beloved Pokemon series has delved into 'god' territory with Arceus being deemed the 'god' pokemon...wont lie, i still play pokemon and buy the gsmes, but i like the collecting aspect. The 'lore' luckily is ignorable. But I still have Tetris lol

If that's your fancy, there's a new game called Lightyear Frontier that's a peaceful building, gathering, etc. kind of game.  Can be co-op with up to 4 people.

I just started it a few days ago.  Probably even more appropriate than Minecraft.  :whistling:  So far nothing objectionable at all.  I can't even hurt the wildlife there.  😅

Now whether it's interesting enough to keep me playing....don't know yet.  Haven't gone back to it yet because I'm waiting for my wife to try it out with me before I get too far....

Hmmm seems like a good reason to dust off this Xbone that hasnt really found any use (lack of games we play). Wish it was on playstation though since thats what is mostly used with the switch. My PC is in another building and im too lazy to adventure out there

I've never been into gaming but I have nephews and a niece  into Mine Craft. I would like something quiet and not stressful something I can be creative with.

Dance. Even if there's no music.

Well so far it seems like Lightyear Frontier is exactly that.  There has yet to be anything stressful or really challenging (other than finding where artifacts are hidden).  Nothing attacks you.  Or destroys your stuff.  Or anything.  Pure peaceful scouting, gathering, and building.

Personally I need more challenge.  But we'll see how it progresses.  It's an early alpha game.  Nowhere near complete.

Sounds like something good for my blood pressure. Lol 😆 is it something I download on my phone or do I need a gaming system?

Yes, Xbox or PC.

I have yet to find a mobile game that keeps my attention AND....if it is good, doesn't drain my battery.  I can't stand my battery only lasting 24 hours.  :whistling:

Did you just introduce me to my new addiction?  🤔😅 It looks like something I'd really enjoy!  Kinda reminds me of Outpost 2 for the PC.

I think I'll be checking it out tonight....

Yep, mining, building, and defending. Very similar to what Factorio looks like.

Lol of course not! I've got too many responsibilities to lose myself in games like I could back in the day. :whistling:

In fact, we just finished the July broadcast. So now I can go play.

So I tried it.  At first glance, it seems better suited for playing on the computer.  Which is the last thing I want to do after working on a computer all day long.  :whistling:

Instead, I got hooked on No Man's Sky.  It's an "older" game, but has come a long way since it was first released.  I haven't made it far enough to where playing with friends makes sense.....seems more like a solo adventure game.  But could be cool to play with others...

No Man's Sky is definitely a MASSIVE MORPG.  The universe is so huge, it is unlikely that you will randomly encounter someone else.  But it can happen.

There is a switch port for factorio, idk how it runs though. I remember when NMS first released, oh my gravy THAT was a poop show. It was chaotic, but i have heard good things about it years since. Ironically its 50% off right now on steam. Id see it as a sign to get it but i barely touch my computer anymore, cant justify paying $60 for a game i may not touch

No Man's Sky is an incredible game and can be played with others. My nephew had a great time teaming up and showing me how to get a jumpstart on getting some in-game currency by finding ancient bones. There's base building and a huge exploration component to the game.

I've found the Expeditions are a great way to get a jumpstart into more of the middle of the game. Expeditions are a challenge mode available for a few weeks after a major content update is made, you start a new character with a specific set of quests that overall reward quite a bit of progress in the game. You can follow fan made video guides if you have limited playtime or work out the progression and milestones yourself.

Don't have an Xbox?  That's where I'm playing it at.

Thanks for the tip!  There's MUCH to learn I'm finding out.  Been a while since I found a game that captivated me so much.  :whistling:  Just had my first space fight last night.  Although I have it on "normal", I almost lost.  👀  I like a good challenge!  😁
