Will there be the internet during the Great Tribulation?

Recommended Posts

I seem to remember an article that talked about the possibility of some parts of the world would be better than others, that we shouldn't expect war in every part of the world.

I seem to remember that life during the GT won't change for some people, everything will be normal for them.

Does that sound familiar? Can someone help me find it?

Yes, I remember it was in an governing body update talking about Ukraine war how we shouldn't expect wars all over the world. I'm looking for it now and either was David or brother Jackson.

This is the one I remember talking about the Ukraine, Russian war.

He doesn't really say it but it's very encouraging for those of us who had anxiety about war but not of being in a war.

Here’s a perspective:

If we think the Great Tribulation is going to look like a bad storm while we stay safe in our houses, with the internet still running and our bank accounts still active—we’re not taking Jesus at his word. This will be a time unlike anything the world has ever seen. (Matthew 24:21)

Insurance won’t matter. Savings won’t matter. They’ll throw their silver into the streets. (Ezekiel 7:19) If we’re imagining civilization will hold up just long enough to keep us comfortable, we’re missing the point. We’re supposed to stand still and see our salvation. (Exodus 14:13)

This isn’t fear—it’s focus. It’s the realization that our greatest provision doesn’t come from planning out every scenario. It comes from Jehovah knowing exactly where we are, and what we need, when the moment comes.

Like Jesus—who still provided and protected even when he wasn’t physically present—we want to prepare our households to rely on Jehovah, not on us. Because when the lights go out, the only light that matters is the one Jehovah provides.

You're thinking it was a written article?

seems I remember this information possibly from a broadcast or AM talk

   could be wrong though

That's the thing about our organization...

We're fed so bountifully that when you want to share a gem with someone,

you can spend hours even days trying to locate the original information.

At that time those who fear Jehovah spoke with one another, each one with his companion,

and Jehovah kept paying attention and listening..." ~ Malachi 3:16

I don't think it will be like a bad storm.

I just don't have a doubt that Jehovah can easily work out essential communication media for His people, regardless of what's going on outside. Whether that's keeping our physical communication channels open for us, or miraculously inspiring the men in charge with what to do, it will all be okay. ☺️

We must not forget that we have the printed addition of the Bible. It will be a very good tool during the GT my sis.

Just a side note, it is interesting how often the brothers compare the GT to a storm. It's an appropriate illustration and I use it in a talk I give. There are many similarities between the GT and a storm and if someone is prepared, they can survive a bad storm.

Hmm, I don't think you are looking at what Jesus said.

Yes, according to Matthew 24:21 it will be a great tribulation, but at the same time Jesus said, “38 For as they were in those days before the Flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 39and they took no note until the Flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be."

So, it will be a GREAT tribulation as Religion will be destroyed but, Jesus didn't make it sound so cataclysmic that "Insurance won’t matter. Savings won’t matter. They’ll throw their silver into the streets"

I see ones using the verse in Ezekiel incorrectly all the time. This verse is not saying that money will be worthless, and people won’t be able to use it. Instead, it means - GOD won’t take their money as a means to buy their salvation. Their money will be worthless TO HIM. ( see https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1102017166#h=25:0-26:0 )

Let’s not misquote Jesus. Jesus said life will be "normal" for most people - so "normal" they will take NO NOTE. And for how long? Yes, right up until the END of the GT.

I was thinking of the same video.  All of the reports that came in were hand-delivered, written notes.

Yes ... that was deep into the Tribulation.

But I think it's wise to have both scenarios covered.

They also had a ladder that went nowhere, but hey that's me being pedantic.

I don't think there will be some type of widespread destruction that will wipe out the internet because the Nations will ally themselves with the UN at the start and end of the GT, so it doesn't seem likely they will nearly destroy each other in some type of war in the meantime. If the internet does go out I would assume it's some type of tactic from the government, but I'm not sure of a scenario where it would be useful.

So I think we'll have internet. I'm wondering if the GB will make a backup app with a generic name and icon that we'll, or the elders, will be told about when the time comes and that's how they'll communicate with us.
