JW Pressroom on Social Media

I’m sorry, but you misunderstood the announcement.  They mentioned who the target audience was—they never said who they expected or wanted it “to reach.”

Social media is very much “platformed communication” — it’s like standing on a car and speaking into a megaphone. The expectation is that it will reach a broad audience.

Let’s not confuse the target with all of the positive trickle down.

I didn't mention expectations in my post

The accounts are not intended to reach young ones, doomscrollers, people who live in works where the land is banned, or any other individual surfing on the internet.

As it says on its main page, they are targetted towards "government officials, journalists, and researchers".

Not saying that I don't think people outside of these domains shouldn't consult the pages, just saying that it's not what they are intended for according to the description

I doomscroll regularly and every time a new video is posted, I share it with the public on Facebook. I believe our message is intended for ANYone who happens to see it. The information can certainly be interesting to anyone, even if they're not "government, journalists, or researchers".

If I can help raise our visibility- in any way- I will do it. 😎

I know you meant to add "appropriately" or "within guidelines" or some other caveat related to the announcements we get. Thanks!

I wasn't clear what you meant about putting the content on your FB account and raising visibility anyway you can. Sorry if i misunderstood how your comments related to the recent announcement.

The recent announcement said : Posting Material on Websites and Social Media: All content on jw.org may be viewed, downloaded, or printed exclusively for personal, noncommercial use. Individuals may share either downloadable files or links that provide access to the material directly on the official website. Users are encouraged to share what they learn by directing others to jw.org itself, rather than redistributing the content. It is not permitted to post any jw.org artwork, publications, music, photos, videos, trademarks, or articles on the Internet, including personal websites, file-sharing platforms, video-sharing services, or social media. This restriction includes theocratic programs available on jw.org or JW Stream, such as monthly broadcasts, congregation meetings, circuit assemblies, and conventions. Distributing jw.org material through software applications or uploading it to servers for public reuse is also not allowed, regardless of whether the content is offered free of charge. If you have posted such material on any website or social media platform without permission, please remove it promptly. More information on this topic can be found in the April 2018 issue of The Watchtower, pages 30-31, and on jw.org under “Terms of Use.”

I share the links- I always, only do that. I know what copyrights are. Unfortunately, even sharing links sends some into a tizzy.. 😒

In this case, if something is on Instagram, I simply share that post. I believe that is also acceptable.

I'm waiting for a post on our stance on zionism

I’m not sure that they’re going to post about every possible social issue. At any rate, it’s very easy to go on our website and view our stances on politics, violence, and military

I'm waiting for a post on our stance on zionism, since many arab countries believe that we are zionists

And a post would change that?

People out in service want to tell me I don't believe in Jesus while I'm inviting them to a convention about Jesus

Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things.

That is pretty clear ..

The organization of Jehovah’s Witnesses is entirely religious and does not advocate any political arrangement, which would include Zionism.

Zeph 3:17 Jehovah your God is in the midst of you. As a mighty One, he will save. He will exult over you with rejoicing. He will become silent in his love. He will be joyful over you with happy cries....... Love it....a beautiful word picture.

A lady yelled at me and slammed the door on me last year while inviting her to the memorial saying "she believed in Jesus", like okay....us too? Can you not read the paper ;_;

I'm lowkey hoping that they do like on the JW website, and whenever anything major happens they make a relatable banner and post an awake/watchtower relating to the situation.

Hello. Does anyone know if this Instagram account, jw_pressrom_espanol, is official? It has the same information as the English version, but in Spanish. And it has over 3,300 followers. The account is located in Mexico.

Without any official announcement : it's fake. Be careful.

Official Social Media Accounts: As a pilot program, the organization has established official social media accounts on Instagram and TikTok under the name JW Pressroom. All materials will be posted only in English. The material on these platforms is specifically designed for a secular audience—government officials, journalists, and researchers. Publishers can continue to rely on JW Broadcasting and the “News” section of jw.org for encouraging updates on our activities.

There already is a post about it on the website

https://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/faq/beliefs-about-zionism/

I know, but the purpose of these accounts is to share accurate information about Jehovah’s Witnesses to the media, researchers and government officials.

This is because in some lands, Jehovah’s Witnesses face slander and human rights violations, and this can cause individuals to instigate hate crimes against us out of ignorance, as is the case in Russia or Japan or Israel.

Hence, raising awareness about who Jehovah’s Witnesses are, from the point of view of Jehovah’s Witnesses, can help mitigate the negative public perception of our religion, which is why I'm waiting for a post on Zionism. We are constantly accused of being Zionists in Arab countries.

How would I go about getting one that might work in his country? Ask an elder?

Elders in lands where our work is legal don't have any information about those sites or even their existence.

That person would need to be contacted by brothers in his own country, they surely know what some of those sites are.

I'm sure this will be solved somehow, Jehovah will maneuver things if that person is sincere.

Actually, one purpose of a pilot program is to discover whether something should continue at all. We've had arrangements that became permanent, such as carts, JW Library, and LDC. We've also had arrangements that were modified or eventually replaced, such as the RBC arrangement, radio broadcasting, testimony cards, magazine routes, and even meeting formats.

The success of a pilot isn't measured by whether it lasts forever. It's measured by whether it provides useful information. That's why judging a pilot before the results are in seems premature. The organization has a long history of testing arrangements, keeping what works, adjusting what needs adjustment, and discontinuing what doesn't.

Let's not work against the prayers of the 'holy ones.'

To express, you don't get it, is understandable.  To not testify as Jehovah's 'witness,' is never a place the organization wants to be. I pray for their efforts.

"Pray for us, for we trust we have an honest conscience." — Hebrews 13:18
