The Day and the Hour Revealed!

The day? Monday, August 21, 2017. The time? Shortly after 9:00 AM. The place Newport, Oregon

Starts right behind our house. If there is fog over the ocean we should see the shadow of the eclipse rushing toward us before we are in it.  On the other hand, there is always a 50/50 chance of overcast on any given morning in August, but since the sun will be over the mountains our chances are good.

All the camp grounds and motels have been booked for a year.

At our B&B, bed and boredom, we still have one guest room available.  Because of the impossibility of finding a room on the coast on this date, we are asking forum members just 5 times our regular rate. We usually charge $00.00 so now the going rate is just 5 x 00.00 or $00.00. for the one night only. First come first served. Cocktails at 5:30 PM. Our daughter and husband have already reserved the other guest room. (Could put a tent or sleeping bags in the backyard.) 

Buy food before you come. (We like steak) Check out time 12:00.

 

Because of heavy traffic on HWY 101, we will not have our regular Sunday meeting at 1:00 PM. instead we will have the WT study at 1:00 PM on Sunday at the Kingdom Hall which will be supported by the Toledo/Newport group. The Toledo town groups will be having their WTS at Wettens house and Siletz will be meeting at the Karlsens residence.

At this price, it won't last. First come first served. Bring food and drinks and fill your gas tanks. Local stores cannot support the 100,000 visitors expected.

The price is right but for one, I think I will pass. We are pretty close to the center of the eclipse path as is so I won't mind missing all that traffic but we will miss the good association of dear friends.
