This picture was in Cornwall,Ontario (Canada) where we have our regional convention. It was really nice that the restaurants had a welcome sign up for witnesses! The witnesses also won an award from the city and the arena has been rented at the same price for many years because they are happy with the witnesses. What a glory to Jehovah!

We have no Kingdom Hall so our meetings were held in the apartment in such a house. No water and central heating. But now we rent a good hall.

We had a Bethel speaker visit and he said that right now there are 1 KH build every 4 hours and this is still not enough to keep up with the growth!!

When we moved to Oregon in 1960 this was the type of phone installed in the house. You crank the handle on the side to ring another phone, full crank, half crank, two full cranks or what other combination was the party's number ring. I never got it right so the operator that listened in to every conversation she could would come on and say "what party were you trying to reach." She was also the editor to the local gossip sheet so she knew all the details of everyone's life. Talk about a party line!

To have a phone like what you posted would have to wait another few years but we had them for many years before the touch phones come out.

I have a lot to say right here, sorry if I seem gabby but.....

 

Hasina we got an update this morning at the field service meeting about KH builds. Brother said there are 8,000 Halls on the schedule and growing all the time. Said that the Brothers have decided to start building all the KH int the same style with metal framework, stucco, a flat roof with a parapet. He said it wasn't a secret so I can share here. Making the builds go faster and more cost efficient. We're on the docket for our tear down for the first week of March and the build begins around April...ummm I think he said the 18th. Unfortunately we don't get the new design, the city has already accepted our plans and all the permits are done. But we're finally getting to see light at the end. We've been in a room off the local library since last August when we came home from RC to a water destroyed Hall. We had 65 at meeting yesterday and it was people on top of people. And HOT!

 

Gabe I have that phone sitting on my shelf in the livingroom!! It does work but it's hard to hear on the receiver so we stopped using it long ago. I should go take a pic of it....ok, after I post this!

 

Lynn, do you know where Jewell, Oregon is? About 30 miles from any civilization, and we were about 4 houses down from the Elk Reserve. We had a party line in 1971 when we moved there. And old Mrs. Slanger used to listen in like crazy! We had 3 of us on the party line. Us, the 2 little old sisters next to us and the farm on the other side with 7 kids. None of us used the phone much back then so it wasn't an issue, but we did have some fun with Mrs. Slanger tho!!

Here she is. The cord to the receiver is on the other side but it's the same technology! Cute huh? My GD plays house with it.

You guys reminded me of this One is a sunrise that was just above Paris in the airplane, not sure if you can see the moon white and very small, way in the back. Thought it was an amazing view! And the Eiffel Tower seen from a different angle...It was raining so there are droplets on the picture, sorry

When we got this year's Daily Text we decided to write something on the wall so we'd remember to read it everyday. We were just going to do the year text, but decided to do a mural with it. My husband actually did it. He had a great time.

We're looking after a friend's dog for a few days, and he ripped his nail while running outside. This picture was taken on Wednesday. He has since had the nail removed and came back with a pretty pink wrap on his paw
