Very pretty Ross :)  I've never seen snow....

I've seen more snow than I care to.  570718c5f0edd_Ralphuparubberchicken.gif.  <---Doesn't that look like a rubber chicken?57071a0fa5a77_LaughingRollingonthefloorl

We got another six inches after this these pictures were taken.:uhhuh:

I am soooooooo tired of shoveling out my bird feeders.

The snow was so heavy and sticky and slushy wet, I had to whack my shovel after

every scoop full.  Spent more time emptying my shovel than filling it. 570718fe25e92_YESGrinning.gif.b5ffca776a

Ross, I'm sorry to hear about your snow  storm. Our weather is so wacky, here it was over 75 F, over 24 to you Celsius people. This is only the first of April! We're in the cool and damp Pacific NW! Amazing weather. Wacky. But that said I have to say I'm happy to see the peas up in the garden and the spuds are doing fantastic, at least 9 inches high.

Dear Sister Ross, we have a new Bethelite from Michigan and I asked him about the upper peninsula. I am watching for a TV show on the same subject, travel channel, I think. What an amazingly fascinating earth Jehovah has created.

The Upper Peninsula of Michigan, USA is known for its Great Lakes' shorelines,

5708092f91f4b_GreatLakesshorelines.jpg.g

pristine wilderness areas,

570809526dad5_RockRiverCanyonWilderness. 570809693cc24_SylvaniaWilderness.gif.4e2

and its many scenic waterfalls.

57080997e126c_UPwaterfalls.jpg.gif.b4324

I live right smack dab between two of the Great Lakes: Superior and Michigan,

570809d139a55_IhoFarms1.gif.924aa8e1e534

I'm east of the Ottawa National Forest and just a few miles west of the Hiawatha National Forest.

The Escanaba River State Forest nearly borders our farm.

The Sylvania National Wilderness area is west of me and the Rock River National Wilderness area is just 12 miles due north of me.

All manner of wildlife visit our farm.  Most any night you can go outside and hears wolves howling or coyotes yapping.

We also have two mountain ranges: The Huron and The Porcupine.

We have a lot of different terrain and sites to see here.

You are so right!  Jehovah has, indeed, created a fascinating earthly home for us humans.^_^

You know it. I was just out there strolling around, much cooler today, almost too cool, and the beets I planted and let winter over are growing again, maybe I'll get something from them in a while. And the artichokes are doubled in size- yay! I'm excited to see how many I get this year.

I only said that Peter because when those that say what temp they are having in Celsius I have to go look up what that means in Fahrenheit. Trying to make life simple since this is indeed an international site.

Lake of the Clouds is located in the Porcupine Mountains:

The highest point in the entire state of Michigan is located in the Huron Mountains:

That's an amazing place. What's the average temp in summer and winter where you are?

Have to admit I'm fascinated by lake Superior.

Here's a chart:

Notice the lowest temps in the summer months.  We have been known to get snow here in the summertime.57084abc3e12a_Ralphuparubberchicken.gif.

Which is why the Yooper joke:

"We get nine months of winter and three months of bad snowmobiling,"

isn't all that funny to us natives.57084a791f7f7_Nogrinning.gif.37ac3570d53

Jaw-droppingly beautiful Ross!!!!

Would think you have your Paradise right there - all you need is a bit less cold and snow :)

The Upper Peninsula is often called 'God's Country'.

Less cold and less snow works for me. ^_^

I have never fully understood just why the UP is part of Michigan and not Wisconsin. When you see it on the map you can really understand how it can be said to be "400 miles north of everywhere", especially when talking about Moose County

The Upper Peninsula is frequently missing from maps of the USA:

The Upper Peninsula, mostly rural, is known for camping, hiking, hunting, boating and seeing waterfalls. But with their home territory likely a mystery to people outside Michigan or Wisconsin, Yoopers are sensitive about being overlooked.

Last year, some high school students from Escanaba wrote to a textbook publisher after a map in a history book appeared to exclude the U.P. from the borders of the United States. The map colored the U.P. white — like the void surrounding the country — while the rest of Michigan was shaded light blue. The map identified states by their postal codes; the U.P. was designated "IL," for Illinois — which had no label.

Other maps have shown the U.P. as part of Wisconsin or Canada.

Someone in the U.P. remedied the exclusion by creating a map where the Upper Peninsula is the size of the united states

and the u.s. is the size of the U.P..  I tried to Google a photo of it but couldn't find it anywhere.  It's pretty funny.

Others in the U.P. feel that, as long as we aren't included on the map, we may as well secede.:uhhuh:
