Rockies near our place

I absolutely love the Canadien/Canadian Rockies! Yes, I know there are two ways to spell Canadien/Canadian and why they are spelled differently. Alberta & British Columbia are just teeming with Jehovah's beautiful creation! I would love to go ice skating in the wintertime on one of those gorgeous in Banff National Park.

Even in black and white, God's glory is clearly seen. I started taking photography seriously when I was in the 9th grade, thanks to my journalism teacher. It was further ignited in high school my Junior year when I learned to use a darkroom and not only shoot by photos, then develop the film and print the photos. I miss having a darkroom!

So true! I love the photo.

I used to do a lot of night fishing for striped bass at a place called Turtle Cove in City Island, New York City when I lived there decades ago. The photo reminds me of many of those times when daylight took flight and night was waking up. The moonlit nights were especially impressive. Silence had been my companion then; it was pleasantly quiet and peaceful, allowing time for reflection.

Of course, silence quickly departed once I had a fish on.  😁

I guess if I barked all night, I would like I need coffee too. These sea lions come to our area every January-February. I like them, fisherman not so much. They make lots of noise and never stop.

We bought our car new in September 2017 with 14 miles. Only took 6 years to get to 27,000 miles. The mechanic at the Ford dealership couldn't believe the mileage! He actually had a laugh with the service manager.

If anyone would like to see more of my photos I am on Instagram under "Gregglikestotakephotos"

It's a private account that only has witnesses on it. I only post positive and upbeat photos.

We live very close to the Columbia River. I enjoy watching the birds that fly or rest along the river. This is a Great Blue Heron. They tend to be a little cranky. I can relate.

I'm unsure if you think that is good or bad mileage.  Here the expected average annual mileage is 15,000 - 20,000kms (9,000 - 12,500 miles) so six years would be 90,000 - 120,000kms (54,000 - 75,000 miles).

When I bought my last car it was 3.5 years old and had 64,000kms (40,000 miles) on the clock which is pretty average.

Don't give up .. it's just around the corner.

That is very low for the age of the car! That's why the Ford mechanic couldn't believe it when he saw it. And we live in a rural area where we have to drive several miles to go anywhere. In the US the average mileage is 13,489 or 21,708 kilometers  (nod to you my neighbor down under!). Normally it would have been two years to get the mileage that took us 6 years to get to.

My wife's car is now 15yr old, we bought it second hand which was 1yr and 20,000km (12,500miles) when she got it (ex Gov Fleet car). It now has 123,000km (77,000miles) on the clock, it only travels about 8,000km (5,000miles) per year. And we live out in rural areas. We travel daily to our convention and circuit assembly's which is about 450km round trip. So about a third of the year, its travel is just for assemblies.

I have a 2007 Nissan Titan with 365,000+ miles (587410+ km) ... all the vehicles I have owned have had similar mileage.

I tend to keep them till they fall apart

Thank you for clarifying. 🙂

I did think it was very low but wasnt sure what the average annual mileage is in the US.

I tend to get comments from my mechanic as well, as my mileage is also quite low for Australian drivers. The current reading for my car is 114,000 kms (70,800 miles) and it is now coming up for 13 years old and i have had it for 9.5 years, so I've averaged roughly 5,000 a year since I've had it.

With the price of petrol, driving is an expensive business these days and my car is a 6 cylinder so not super economical. Fortunately,  being of 'mature' years, I'm happy to stay home most of the time these days. 🙃

Don't give up .. it's just around the corner.
