Amen! AdWare is horrible.Chuck, will that stop the problem from reoccurring? I have ADBlock plus, does this do the same thing? And do we have to update media player if we don't use it?

No, ADW cleaner does not remain active to block adware, it is just a good cleaner that gets rid of any files on your system that are generating these ads. AD Blocker is good for stopping popup ads in your web browser.

Yvette seems to be getting these popups whether she is on the web or not, so she needs to clean her system. The "Peacekeeper" adware bug infects your system so you get popup ads on your desktop.

Thanks Sisters. I have been having trouble with the pop ups too.  They are annoying.

As I further 'investigated' this annoyance...I was instructed to remove intrusive plugins from my Firefox browser...which helped even more. I never use Firefox, I like Chrome, so I would never have look at Firefox as causing me problems. So check on other browsers...whether you surf on them or not. Furthermore, I installed Adblock Plus for Chrome, and you can see the numbers of ads it has blocked for you.   :boxing:

I have a different kind of pop-up problem that I don't understand. It's just started on my Thunderbird email system. A dialogue box pops up when I am half way through typing and email and it causes the closing of the email and I find myself typing the rest of a sentence in the field of this dialogue box. I cancel the dialogue box as I don't understand it and try to find where my email has gone in the drafts folder. I do not know what to do with this dialogue box as the various buttons on it don't do anything, except if I press the cancel one enough it disappears for about 20 minutes.

It also pops up and interferes with my ability to send emails. It also pops up when I am not doing emails - just appears on the desktop when nothing else is happening and sometimes when I am trying to shut down the laptop. It did try to stop me receiving emails, but has stopped doing that now.

Dialogue box reads: Add Security Exception.  Server: pop.gmail:995 (then a button that doesn't do anything  when I click on it that says )Get Certificate. (underneath it says) "This site attempts to identify itself with invalid information, Unknown identity." (Then a box that says) Confirm Security Exception (and the button that eventually works to make the box go away for 20 minutes): Cancel.

I have always had googlemail, I have always used Thunderbird system, so I don't know why it has suddenly started doing this, but I don't know what to do to stop this dialogue box appearing nor what it means??

I went to google to ask for help and they said that I had to pay $15 ( I live in the UK) to get an answer and I have been receiving pestering emails to pay this $15 for an answer ever since??

I've had the same problem on my laptop, so I have to disable the smart pad to avoid this happening. I use a mouse and never the smart pad but it has to be disabled every time I turn on my computer.

Do you use "Avast" for your anti-virus? This seems to be an issue between Avast and Thunderbird and is discussed here, There are also some suggested solutions,

Avast also has a solution:

Yes I do have Avast antivirus system.Musky.

I followed the instructions on their site, via your links, and exported the Mailshield certificate into Thunderbird and deleted various files out of it's server files as instructed and OK'd all these changes and hopefully it will no longer pester me - but I've bookmarked this instruction page just in case it looms into view and disappears my emails again!

Thanks Musky, this has plagued me for weeks and none of the congregation geeks knew how to help
