I previously had a keyring attachment that said "abstain from blood". Is this overt commercializing? It did start some conversations. I was thinking of making (or buying) a lanyard with "No blood" and/orJw.org.

Those are discreet, dignified, and as you admit, starts conversations. I don't think these are examples of commercialization at all, with the exception of "pioneers" who will turn the literature counter into a sales booth selling their $.05 keychains for $10 each.

To me, "commercialization" is the trend of treating the URL as just another corporate logo to be plastered anywhere and everywhere, without any effort to be dignified.

The picture is on JW Meme and it's a spoof of the Christain Louboutin red bottom shoes.  I haven't found the original picture but I did find this one. Mystery solved!

BTW: These are only $965.00, the JW.org logo is extra... :D

But the high price does not make them less beautiful.  :raspberry:

...absolute rubbish...

At this point I don't think the website or person is advertising the shoes. It's possible the person was 'following' several social media forums and some of them were JW supplies and one of them was a forum that had posted that picture, probably as a JW meme. The fact they all were on the same page made it look like the person was selling the shoes.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it until I don't.

I was wondering about that, too.

But I made a 'righteous statement'- so to speak- because I value Jehovah's non-commercialized arrangements.

Thanks for mention that, Richard!

Unless the woman is on a higher elevation than the observer, how often would the underside of her shoes be visible?

Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things.

My mama would call those 'whore shoes'. I don't think you will be seeing these as examples of Christian attire. (Just one bros opinion).

   probably not very often...

     as sisters rarely do this:

I feel the symbolism of all of that to be way over the top...It's a stretch but'walking ('tramp-ling')on the Word of God' or somesuch is a bit much, for me....I mean, it's our conduct, not how we are dressed, that should entice peaple to inquire of our beliefs..

Just my .02, adjusted for inflation. ..so, worthless, actually. ..

Tim, if you are talking about the shoes, we are pretty sure the picture was a joke and it ended up on someones website, the same person happened to also be monitoring some JW stuff so the website looked like it was selling JW stuff and shoes, but it wasn't...

Yeah, thanks for that but I pretty much was on that page, I didn't think they were for 'real' but the thought just irks me. And, mayhaps I was being a tad sardonic...Remind me, I'll ask myself later when awake.

Personally I think that some of the JW.org pics have been Photoshopped. The one of the bus particularly springs to mind.

I don't agree with this kind of stuff, I think it presents us as being peddlers of a website rather than preachers of the Bible, but as I say, I think some of the "adverts" aren't real. I haven't seen this sort of thing in our congregation or our region. People wear the little badges (which I personally don't agree with either), but none of the ties or anything.

I don't have a problem if people do wear JW.org badges, I personally wouldn't though. I stick to the Society printed materials, i.e. the JW.org leaflet that we distributed in the campaign a couple of years ago.

I prefer instead to walk Bible-in-hand on field service to make it clear that I am there to preach from God's Word, not just to distribute literature. Not that there's anything wrong with our literature, but I don't want people to think that that's all we do.

Putting the logo on any shoe is going too far.  However, what makes this especially offensive is the fact that it is not an accurate portrayal of Jehovah's people.  Granted, we love our shoes but as word association goes, stilettos = sexy... Jehovah's Witnesses do NOT come to mind.  An ad like this takes the focus away from it's original purpose of advertising the website, and puts all attention on the shoe.  If I didn't know what JW.org was and saw this ad, I would assume it was for a "escort" service.  It was most likely done in fun however, if we can access it, so can others.  If a person feels the urge to use PhotoShop, best to keep Jehovah's name out of it.   :)

(Deuteronomy 28:3)  “Blessed you will be in the city, and blessed you will be in the field.

Being blessed by Jehovah is not contingent on location, assignment or circumstances.
