Watchtower Library on DVD

Recommended Posts

I find it all confusing.... Watchtower Library, Watchtower Online Library, JW Library, jw.org website, JW Language App, JW Sign Language. In my opinion, we should have just one website and one online Library that merges everything together, to keep things streamlined.

1. Watchtower Library ONLY for Windows devices and the BEST for serious research.

2. Watchtower Online Library For non Windows devices and will work with any hardware platform that has an Internet Browser.

3. JW Libray For congregation meetings plus Kingdom Proclaimers  because it is controlled by the organization. They just added in the library under Brochures and Booklets the Memorial Bible Reading Schedule.

4. JW Language App Discontinued.

5. JW Sign Language App designed for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community because they use video instead of text.

Because we have so many different operating systems and hardware devices your wish for one app and one website would leave a large portion of the global community without tools to build their spirituality and relationship with Jehovah. Just as we keep up with new truths so likewise we keep up with tools which make being a kingdom proclaimer easier and more enjoyable.

In addition, have you never heard of the phrase "information at our fingertips"? Bill Gates introduced this concept as a keynote address at the COMDEX/Fall 1990 trade show, where he outlined a "crusade" to make all necessary data instantly accessible from a desktop personal computer. So we all had 35 years to learn and get used to handling data.

JW Sign Language is no more either.  It was merged with JW Library.  So only 3 libraries.

I'm happy that Watchtower Library is continued to be supported and developed.  Find it the best for searching and research.

I like the look and feel of WOL.  And it can be used on any device, including Linux or Macs without extra software.

On my tablet, I will use a combination of JW Library and WOL.  I download current and most used publications on JWL for meetings and ministry, but use WOL for the rest.

The latest WTL update, I guess will be included with update 2602.  If you want to uninstall and install the new version before then, I suggest you first backup the rs_data folder + the file named update. within the Watchtower Library program folder, and then restore after installing.  This will save time and data downloading the publications again.

Totally agree and I splashed the cash for an MS Surface Pro 11 so that I have access to the WT Library and the NWS Scheduler when at the hall or in meetings.

Br. Jonathan, the publications are contained within the update (or original loading/install).  There are no separate pubs to download and install by themselves are there?

We have to install them in JW Library but not WTL.

This is so loving. Thank you for the generous exposition.

I downloaded the EXE file.  When activated, it erased all of the existing 2601 WTL.  I had to manually ask it to load a new library.  It did so but the  framework was completely empty except for a help file (no daily text, not publications). I went back and clicked on the EXE file a second time and it started downloading the rest of the library (it may have been trying in the background, I don't know).  After a few minutes, I got the new logo (app icon).  When I opened the library, it was still empty.  I clicked on the help menu and asked for "updates".  A menu appeared showing the program still loading (about 3/4 done).  I waited until it was finished and looked in help one more time to see which version was loaded.  It said 2601.

So after all that work and a half-hour of fooling around, I got the same program, the same data, the same publications and the same version number...WITH a new logo/icon.
