Letters to Russia: False report

Currently, the letter-writing campaign and Russia legal proceedings are the MAIN topic of discussion in a PUBLIC JWT forum.  That said, anyone with a sinister motive can access the thread and post fake news which may appeal to the uninformed.  Again, caution is emphasized when things like this materialize.

FYI: There is an unconfirmed report that there is a Russian TV report about 500 tons of letters that are backlogging the Moscow mail system. Forum members are currently trying to verify the information and the source.

There was a Russian news report in April 2013 about 500 tons of mail backlogging the Moscow mail system so if someone sends you a current report, please compare the information and verify the date.

This is from April 8th 2013

in this report.........its about parcels not letters.....

and as you said Brother Richard....the report is from April 2013!!!

500 tons of parcels from abroad got stuck in Moscow

About 500 tons of international mail is stuck at Moscow airports and customs offices, the employee said. The deliveries mostly include goods purchased online from foreign retailers.

500 tons? How about 840 tons!

I was recently passed on a message that was apparently from a sister who heard the Italiano news. Once I heard the details however I concluded it must be a false report as well. Here's what was said: 14 train carriages carrying 840 tons of letters (By the way, that's the weight equivalent of an American S-class submarine), making 1700 cubic metres of letters.

And this is what 1 cubic metre looks like...

10 cubic metres...

100 cubic metres...

There's no way that 1700 cubic metres is going to fit on 14 train carriages.

And here's an American S-class submarine weighing 840 tons....

I think the organization didn't want to transform this campaign into a record seeker of any kind! Otherwise we would be asked to put the amount of letters we sent into our report (the only correct way to know the total amount of letters sent by the publishers, except the letters sent by non witnesses)

We should ask ourselves what was the main reason for the campaign and after thinking about it a little bit we wont go hastily posting this kind of news of how many letters are stocked at Moscow's post office, or how much money was spent, etc....

Also for the same reason we don't know how many letters were sent, the Guinness Book can't know also, so there is no way to establish a record

Whatever the case, each of us know that we did our part to show Jehovah which is our stand on the matter. We know also that our letter campaign was big enough to cause an worldwide impact, no matter the exact numbers

I also got this information from the site http://www.trackitonline.ru/?service=track

I feel that the influx of letters was also to encourage witnesses in Russia.

To let them know that the whole world of our wonderful brotherhood is thinking about them and praying for them.

We've all sent visible proof of this to our brothers in Russia.

I mean, all of us here have been strengthened by our own letters.

It's exciting to be part of making Jehovah's name known to the world.

Wow!:D

Post office said we spent about 55 million  dollars on sending mail to Russia. What a witness!

What is the source of that information?

I don't understand how or why the US Postal service or other countries postal services would collect that information.

That appears to be someone's comments in a forum and not an actual news report. Can anyone confirm any of the information in that comment?

Whoops. No way to rescind what I posted sorry. It came from a pioneer sister who normally corrects me. You know, on other social media, when you post something that you are excited about, you can delete the post. I'd so appreciate that here. I've tried. And end up erasing my original post, and stating something, just to take up the empty space. (You can't post empty space. I apparently tried).

Again, I humbly apologize.

And, life goes on...

No problem. Others have gone back and forth about the same info. So, we left everything visible. This helps all of us know what is accurate and what isn't.

Thank you again for your continued particiaption   :flowers:

There is going to be a spike in revenue in all post offices in the world for that accounting period, so later on that information will be visible in their accounting reports. I really don't think that will be available as yet, unless it's anecdotally. I found info on the Russian Post organisation's website saying they had made more profit than this time last year, but the reporting period didn't align with this campaign, it was just from Dec-Mar.

I thank you friends. After my morning fiasco, I decided to do a little research myself. I found a U-Tube video. With the information I should not have shared. It was from a "brother". With all the explanations, using the pointer and our site. And that same info, graphs and all.  The final words were "and if we all do what we are asked, we will prove ourselves a cult", or words of that nature. I sashayed over toFB, unfollowed him. I will unfriend him as soon as I am finished here. (Jusat got back from town) I have thought of him as edgy, but, those words cinched it. I even have a book he wrote. Into the garbage. (No, it is not our Tom-Tom)

Live and learn . Again, thank you, friends!
