When you see pictures like this one, with brother Stupnikov in the middle, and the friends who came out to meet him when the court decided to release him from house arrest, you can tell how courageous they are. And these peace-loving brothers and sisters are the ones the King of the North wishes to annihilate!

S.K.R. ARRIVES AT 16 APARTMENTS OF MOSCOW JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES FOR SEARCHES

Mediazona, 10 February 2021

Personnel of the Investigative Committee of Russia [S.K.R.], the F.S.B., and National Guard are conducting searches in Moscow at 16 addresses within the context of a case about the organization of a division of the Jehovah's Witnesses (parts 1 and 2 of article 282.2 of the Criminal Code). This was reported on the website of the main directorate of the S.K.R.

Early in the morning, representatives of law enforcement agencies with attesting witnesses gather at several residential buildings in Khovrino and the Levoberezhny district of Moscow, Khimki and Chekhov. Their target is the families of Jehovah's Witnesses. The first reports of intrusion into apartments come from believers at 06:20. During the first hours, it becomes known about at least 10 searches.

More details can be read about this brother and what he was charged with at link below.

Armed searches were carried out in April 2020 of nine homes of believers in the Krasnodar region (Russia).   Alexander Ivshin, a retired engineer with eight grandchildren, was charged with the standard ‘organizing an extremist organization’ and forced to sign an undertaking not to leave the area.  It is worth spelling out what the charge actually entailed. As the JW in Russia report explains, the prosecution claimed that Ivshin “organized services and shared singing of Biblical songs by video-link with the neighbouring town of Abinsk.”  The stress caused by the armed search, interrogation and charges caused Ivshin, then 62, to suffer a hypertensive crisis, which can result in a stroke.

“I am not surprised by the fact that I am a defendant in this case, because Jesus foretold it. At Matthew 10:18, it says: ‘And you will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a witness to them and the nations.’ . . . Jesus’ words do not cause me to feel despondent. No, they make me happy, because I can tell the honorable court about the hope that awaits all people who recognize their spiritual needs.”

Yesterday,  our Minister for Foreign Affairs from Finland,  visited Russia and discussed various issues with the Russian Foreign Minister. One of these was the treatment of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia.

In the past, President Putin has also wondered (in the newspaper / news) why Jehovah's Witnesses are being persecuted.

It is, of course, strange that the President of Russia sometimes made such statements. Well, it  seems that  MFA of Russia Lavrov did not react to Haavisto's (Finland) comments. Unfortunately there is no link in English

"Yaroslav Sivulsky of the European Association of Jehovah’s Witnesses said that “today’s sentence is shocking by its severity,” especially as it is far from an isolated incident and because it appears that the Russian authorities are again stepping up their campaign against the faith, despite Vladimir Putin’s call for not punishing anyone for his or her religious beliefs.

(The Kremlin leader received a lot of positive reaction for his words; but despite what many assumed, they have not had the impact many hoped for. “believers continue to be persecuted” around the Russian Federation.)

In the second case today, Russian media say police had searched 16 addresses in Moscow looking for Jehovah’s Witnesses who were sharing their faith via the Internet. According to the authorities, evidence of “conspiracy” was found in one of the apartments, and charges of organizing an extremist group have been lodged (credo.press/235689/).

If those charged in this case are convicted and then give the maximum prison term, they could be behind bars as long as for ten years.  As Credo Press notes, the only “logic” behind such actions is a belief among Russian officials that “faith in God as the Jehovah’s Witnesses understand it, is ‘a continuation of the activity of an extremist organization.”"

Basically in Russia JW are extremists, not an organized religion. Therefore to be prosecuted :(

Moscow, the Old Believers in defence of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Vladimir Rozanskij

The community of Old Believers (Starovery, also called Staroobrjadtsy or "Old-Ritualists"), the 17th century Russian schismatics, is launching an appeal against the persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia, prohibited by law since 2017. The petition is proposed to "all citizens of Russia who cherish freedom of conscience, regardless of their relationship with religion"
