15 congregations held in Russia's Dagestan

Russian security services detain members of 15 congregations in Dagestan for "organising extremist activities" and spreading their "organisation's ideology". 

 

The report says "15 communities", which I presume means congregations. 

 

It is getting worse. 🙁

I had to look Dagestan up on the internet as I had no idea where it is.  Here's the wiki page if anyone's interested....

We are not surprised about the news as it's part of the KOTN, Jehovah is taking note .... not long now!!

Dagestan is in the north Caucasus region, which is seen as volatile even by Russian standards due to the legacy of the Chechnya wars and Islamic radicalism. 

 

Life there was tough for JWs even before the official witch hunt began. It is a very conservative Muslim region with its own laws and values. Anyone who converts to another faith is often severely beaten up and disowned by the whole family. 

 

I was actually surprised to read that there are 15 congregations in Dagestan. I thought there would be 2 or 3 at the most. So the brothers have been doing a good job on the ground.

It is interesting that brothers published a report on the arrest of JWs in Dagestan on 3 June. I wonder if it is the same FSB operation.

The Radio Liberty published its report on 6 June. So something tells me that the FSB detained members from "15 communities" and only arrested 4 in the end, releasing the rest. 

 

Maybe things are not that bad as initially thought.

Imho, incarcerating even one of our innocent brothers or sisters is bad enough!
