It was released in connection with the 2013 nwt, and contained only the Bible to begin with. It was only in English. The GB was testing how it would work. The use has since exploded, and you can come to the meeting equipped with JW Library only whatever language you speak, almost. Not to mention the ministry. These days you can speak to a householder and not leave any printed matter, but, equipped with JW Library only, direct them to our website.

🎵“I have listened to Jesus in these troublesome days,

He lights up my path.

As I hear and obey.”

Last month I was working with the CO and I told him it was "No bag Thursday " and he had to leave his service bag in the car. He didn't believe me :lol1:

The bag is a comfort for many, but these days not really a necessity. In some territories, people are even put off by the bag.

I do remember it also had the daily text.  Then one of first updates (2014) included the songbook.  With my Windows 8 tablet, I split the screen - JW Library with the revised NWT on one side, and a PDF of the Watchtower on the other.

I also remember getting some unfair counsel for using my tablet to read scriptures from the platform in my talk and bible readings.

I did like the original home screen page.

I'm one of those. I have to have my Bible, my Reasoning book and half dozen different tracts and mags and books....:bible2: oh, and my tablet...

Does anyone recall the beginning of the JW Library app?  I recall the introduction in a presentation on one of our videos (an annual meeting perhaps).  I seem to remember that it was just the Bible at first.

It was introduced at the 2013 annual meeting when all English congregations were tied in. I got a new phone shortly after because I couldn’t load it on my old one. Five Bible versions were included.

Where I lived at the time, there was a lot of rule-making by the friends about the use of tablets or devices from the platform. Even the branch feared it might lead to some feeling pressured to get a device too. This was, of course, before nearly everyone had smartphones. But they saw the writing on the wall. When the app was released in 2013, all of that talk went away. After all, if the organization had a brother ON STAGE WITH DEVICES, then how bad could it be for us to use them? Now, nearly everyone uses them on the platform. Funny how fast things can change.

...that's why there are monitors on both sides of the stage...:lol1:
