There was something on the news here about that some weeks ago.  They suggested in all seriousness to socially distance with your cat!

This is my serious concern. Feral cats will eventually be transmitting this probably to other species.   Jumps between species will give it new vigor.  Quite frankly the immediate solution to prevent this is unthinkable.

It's not just about cats though as  Coronaviruses are are transmitted between many animals and people - that's how humans got it in the first places. More likely from Camels and bats originally ...

The page of the report cited in the post does not refer to COVID-19 deaths. Rather, it discusses COVID-19 cases admitted to Australian hospitals, either in general wards or intensive care units. For those cases, the report found all but 9 per cent suffered from one or more comorbidities in addition to COVID-19.

Referring to COVID-19 deaths, a table in the report shows that 80 per cent of patients who died in hospital, and for whom data was available, had suffered one or more comorbidities.

When a similar claim about over-reported deaths went viral in the US a few weeks ago, fact checkers found that although COVID-19 was listed on death certificates as the sole cause of death in just 6 per cent of fatalities attributed to the virus, that didn't mean the coronavirus didn't cause or contribute to the remaining 94 per cent of deaths.

As FactCheck.org explained, death certificates list "any causes or conditions" that contribute to a person’s death.

"In the case of COVID-19, the disease often causes other serious conditions, such as pneumonia or acute respiratory distress syndrome," the fact checkers said. "The underlying cause of death, however, is the condition that started the chain of events that led to a person's death."

A spokesman for the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention told FactCheck.org that in 92 per cent of all deaths that mention COVID-19, the coronavirus was listed as the underlying cause of death.

"So, it's misleading to say that 94 per cent of those who died with COVID-19 also had other ailments without explaining that the disease causes other serious illnesses. And it's wrong to claim that only 6 per cent of the recorded COVID-19 deaths were caused by the disease," the fact checkers concluded.

Which is a silly argument, anyway.  I mean, seriously...  If a person has a heart attack and dies while in a car accident, does it really matter if we say they died in the car accident? 

 

It's like saying someone trampled to death at a movie theater fire didn't die as a result of the fire.  True, they were trampled, but they wouldn’t have been in that position had it not been for the fire

In 2002 my mom had terrible COPD, she had an asthma attack, went to emergency, got the MRSA virus, hospital had little experience with it. She was treated just enough to not kill the virus but keep her alive, for 2 weeks. Finally moved her to a large city hospital where intense treatment was given, by that time she developed diabetes,  which she never had. On the death certificate,  despite her body needing hazmat containment transportation to the mortuary,  read she died of complications of diabetes. Do I have any confidence in anything I read? Nope. Hindsight will be my news of choice.

It matters because covid deaths have been directly influencing public policy, and has prevented people from seeking medical attention etc, and has been disastrous on mental health. The consequences of ballooned covid death statistics are far reaching. 
 

An Illinois public health official openly admitted to attributing even motorcycle accident deaths to covid just because the deceased tested positive, though covid played no role in his death.

 

It matters. It matters tremendously.

I also think there is possibly an undercount of covid deaths too. Because people may have died from it in December through March when we were not testing for it.

 

They would have to test dead bodies. I don’t think they’re doing that.

I was stunned to hear the news this morning on President Trump contracting Covid-19.  However, we don't know yet whats on the near horizon. 

 

We have a campaign this November.  We have a project (Ramapo) that will take place soon.

 

I wait on Jehovah and see how these turns will go.  There's alot of thought here and prefer to keep mine to myself.  However, we can see how very close we are as the "last empire" takes a turn.
