I was making an entry in a reply window and I hit a key combination that shank my whole window display of this website to about 3/4 of what it was.  I can guess that I hit the <ctl> key instead of ,shift> when I hit the next letter (or two) the screen retracted to a smaller display.

I can't seem to find a combination to revert to the larger size.  Does anyone have a suggestion.  My eyesight is not the best and I need all of the monitor real estate that I can get.

What device are you using? Are you on desktop PC or a mobile?

Most PC browsers support shrinking or enlarging the web site display. It can be achieved the pressing the ctrl key and scrolling your mouse wheel. I assume this may be what you accidentally accessed.

In the Chrome browser, it can be reset to the default value if you click the zoom icon in the address bar.

Desktop PC using Windows 10 Pro. I have updated the windows to the May 2020 version (2004).  Dell PC with touch screen 21" monitor

I thought the problem may be with the browser you were using. But if the problem isn’t solved even after pressing ctrl + 0 key, (reset key for text zoom) it may be something else.

It used to be "full-page (no real margins) and now it is in the 3/4 of the middle of the page.

I have attached a couple of pictures.  First one is the way it looks to me now.  The sceond is the way it used to look (sort of).

Did you try hitting F11?

F11 looks like <ctl>+O for a zoom.  It makes the page "full-screen" without menus and headers but the window that is open really doesn't get much bigger (wider) just has more room at top and bottom.  Thanks.

I still can't figure out what key combination I hit to make it smaller by accident...

The ctrl and 0 will reset the page zoom to its default value. It may seem that all along, you actually have been using the web site on the enlarged version.

So, when you accidentally resetted the lager zoom, it would shrink down. But in reality, it was actually a reset. The reason I suggested this at first was because I wouldn't think of the possibility that you already were using the enlarged web site.

ctrl and + key will shrink up the web site zoom. And ctrl - will shrink down the web site. This also can be done with pressing the ctrl key, and rolling your scroll wheel. I also mentioned it in a passing note in the first post.

Thanks, I had checked other websites in Chrome (like JW.ORG and ebay) and they were unaffected. So I thought it must be confined to a setting here on jwtalk. With age-related vision problems, anything that causes problems with my viewing causes some anxiety.  When i could not find the problem nor the solution it was weighing on my mind.  Thanks to all for their advice and help.

Back in 1982 when I got into the computer business, this was not a problem (DOS and a "green" monitor)...:)

It is possible that, when you reset the magnifying level on the JWT site your PC "set a cookie" to remember the change for this site and that is why other sites were not affected.

This can happen quite easy if you happen to hit the <CTL> key while scrolling - and when the screen size changes you tend to react by pulling both hands away and you may not realize that you had pressed/hit/rested on/had something press the <CTL> key

You know, kind of like having a book or some other object pressing on the space bar when you don't intent to
