Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things.

It's on all news outlets, Reuters, AP etc. And as I posted above, this part blows me away in his follow up post on Truth Social

“God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!”"

Quote from AP:  "The Israeli military declined to comment on Trump's statement. Iranian state media had no word on what response Tehran had to the ceasefire."

The U.S. had that for many years. Many brothers spent as much as three years in prison over it. We had two brothers in our Congregation why were in prison because of that. My Uncle (live story in December 1, 1992 WT) also went to prison over that.

Candidly, I am thankful it is gone. I would not want brothers in the U.S. to have to go through what many of us older ones went through.

Thanks,

Jim

That wasn't a manditory military requirement. That was dubbed selective servicr and anvolved a selection of draftees based on their classification, 1-A was most eligible, 2-A only slightly less. I was 3-A and was differed due to having dependents.

Yes, the US draft was not "mandatory service" as Jerry pointed out above. There were classifications in the draft. Most 18-year-old males in the US were 1-A ... that means they were drafted into the Army. As the numbers went up, the draft eligibility dropped. 4-F was a category of guys who were not drafted due to physical/medical reasons. 4-D was for "ministers". Females were exempt.

During the late 1960's and early 1970's most 18-year-old males in the US were drafted and sent to Vietnam unless they could get a "deferment" or reclassified in the "4" category. Some males got a student deferment because they were in college. Others got a hardship deferment due to essential trade or family hardship. This was a time when many young brothers went to jail if they could not get a "deferment" as a conscientious objector or get classified 4-D.

All you had to do to get a 4-D was be appointed as a regular pioneer, preferably, before you turned 18 and fill out the required paperwork.

This is not hearsay or something I heard about.

Some in our congregation were able to get the conscientious objector deferment after multiple hearings before the Draft Board having to defend their beliefs under severe questioning. Some went to jail because they either could not defend the Truth well enough to sound convincing or because they barely went in service.  My brother was able to get the deferment. I was 4-D since I started pioneering when I was 17. I was the only one in our KH to get the 4-D since none of the other young brothers qualified at the time. I never had to appear before the Board, nor did I have to report for a physical examination.

I really don't know what to think about the whole Israel / Iran / US war. I do really hope it leads into world leaders giving their power to the UN.....All in Jehovahs hands. It's definitely getting interesting.

Looks like the ceasefire has already failed

Your Draft Board apparently paid attention to Selective Service System regulations and direction.

I had to do both. They sent me for physical examination and found me "fit as a fiddle and ready to be played."

The "local" Draft Board (althogh by then it was 400 miles away) would not recognize my IV-D classification. I requested a personal appearance. They still denied my IV-D classification. There was another brother my same age who had his personal appearance the same day as mine.

Both of us had to make written appeal to the Selective Service System. Finally we received our IV-D classification.

Every year after that I had to request a letter from the Society that I was still a pioneer.

The III-A classification (student) was a deferral, not an exemption. The deferral meant that one's exposure was extended from age 27 to age 35. The length of extra exposure had no relationship to the time of the deferral. Because of a "paperwork problem" with my "local" Board, I was in class III-A for a few months. That extended my personal exposure from age 27 to age 25.

It was intimidating facing the Selective Service System while the U.S. had 400,000+ troops in Viet Nam. When they instituted the "lottery" system based on one's date of birth, my lottery number was 26. I knew if I came off of the pioneer list I would be the 26th person they called.

I started pioneering in January, 1962 (the second semester of my senior year of high school).

I got married in August, 1963, and moved to Pensacola.

Thankfully, I received a III-C classification for parental exemption before President Nixon announced there would be no more parental exemptions (that happened in January, 1970).

Thanks,

Jim

I think 🧐 🤔 they just wanted to scare them and start the process of regime change. Regime change is what the world 🌎 wants, not a non-nuclear Iran. I think the world wants Iran to modernise with nuclear power plants and modern civilisation, so they can make more money off the oil and become a large consumer nation.
