Yes, of course, the basement is not the main point. That’s actually quite obvious, because no one would think about being in a basement if they didn’t understand that our real safety depends on Jehovah’s power. For me, the example just helps remind us of the importance of developing now the qualities we will need, such as strong faith, trust in Jehovah, loyalty, obedience, courage, endurance, humility, and love. It even reminds me of that idea in Psalm 27:13: “Where would I be if I did not have faith that I would see Jehovah’s goodness in the land of the living?

Iran is mostly about Shia Islam, it's a minority in Islam (mostly Sunni)

I dont see it especially if nuclear weapons are used ....i would be very surprised.

We don't know what the future will be. We don't know how any of this is going to play out. The Bible is silent and the Slave does not have any divine foresight 

I"m pretty sure in my comment that I said "may receive",  indicating that I was also not sure and just putting out an different scenario of what could happen. I do believe Jehovah will somehow preserve the dignity of his people during that time.

For decades, I used to say that Jehovah wouldn’t allow another world war because of the potential for mass loss of life. I no longer hold that view because Jesus likened the features of the sign of his presence and coming to birth pangs, which imply they would increase in frequency and intensity.
 

Also, war and the food shortages that follow are some of the biggest distractions to the kingdom's message used by satan. It's extremely difficult to listen to the kingdom message and take it to heart when you’re in fear of your very life, your stomach is in pain from hunger, and you don't know where your next meal is coming from. I can see satan using these distractions on a wider scale as we get closer to the end.

 

Lastly, I think World War is unfathomable to many of us because we’ve never experienced it. I'm sure many people couldn't imagine WW1 before it struck.

Some people believe that things will get back to normal.  Its good to be positive but we dont really know what will happen next . Iran has been hitting oil reserves and I think thats so evil. They know that oil runs the economy and they drag everyone by it  and I know that US is after oil. Its on Daniel 11:43 .

no one here has a basement or attic that you could get into… but we do all have go bags at the ready just in case we need to flee because of disaster or because of advice from the brothers

 

 Like you said those videos were put up there to encourage us to have the correct attitude

We might. That's how it has always seemed to be. It makes sense. But we don't know for sure how Jehovah will protect us during that time.

This forum is among the best things I have found outside of official channels.  I see it in the spirit of Proverbs 27:17 "As iron sharpens iron, so one friend sharpens his friend".

 

We get to know one another through the tone of our comments. "Is this person a peacemaker?  Or a scrapper?  An up builder? Or a challenger?   We may get a reputation as predominately a challenger, or something else.  That's okay.  We're like a bouquet of flowers. Some flowers have thorns. We just need to learn to handle it with care.

 

I look forward to the week of August 3 when we study the Watchtower article Respect the Decisions of Others.  I want to see how that article influences our posts here, because it has a lot to say, very directly, about respecting the opinions that you may personally disagree with.

 

Anyway, YOU dear brothers and sisters are like apples of gold in silver carvings!!!!   So much help is given so freely.  I love you very much!

The Slave has made it clear (I thought) that the King of the South will be destroyed by Jehovah’s hand. They have also said that things would be going along pretty much as normal when the end occurred. I wish I could find the references. I’m just too tired.
