They've missed the boat on that one by a month. The first man died of the bird flu strain H5N2, in June. I was going to put it in the pestilence topic when I first read about it but it was over 12 months since anyone last commented in there so it's closed and I couldn't be bothered starting a new one.

I’m sorry, but the comment above, “ The first man died of the bird flu strain H5N2, in June.”, is MISINFORMATION and propaganda.

 

If you read the article in the link provided, the very first sentence says,

“A 59-year-old man in Mexico has died WITH a type of bird flu - H5N2 - never recorded in people before now.” There’s no indication that the bird flu actually caused his death.

Also, the article goes on to say, 

 

“The man had other underlying health issues that likely made him vulnerable.

He had been bedridden for weeks before getting sick with fever and shortness of breath from bird flu, according to officials.”

The man had diabetes and was severely obese. He had been sick with an infection for weeks, so likely his immune system is compromised.

 

This is an another example why we need to read articles very carefully and scrutinize it, and think critically, before sharing. Do not jump on the fear bandwagon! It’s all propaganda, trying to scare us into thinking we must get a new vaccine for the bird flu or we will die.

Seems a bit of a harsh reaction.
 

Even if the man didn’t die from ‘bird flu’ but rather ‘the man had other underlying health issues that likely made him vulnerable,’ he did indeed have it. 
 

Being vaccinated might prove to be protective for persons with underlying conditions so they are not vulnerable, as he was.

Not everyone views vaccinations as ‘do or die,’ but instead approach that ‘sensitive’ topic, taking all things into consideration and deciding for themselves (as is true of all health related choices we face). 
 

The number of humans who have contracted    bird flu is low and in conjunction with certain occupations, but that could change. The CDC website states that a vaccination is being worked on, not completed.

The situation in France, Brother Douglas, has been explosive, suffocating for several weeks. The campaign for the European elections has revealed the flaws of a system that hangs by a thread. The party which dominated the early legislative elections is a gathering of antagonistic forces, to block the Far Right which is increasingly seducing the country.

The situation is far from calm, and no one knows what it will lead to. Perhaps the UK elections influenced the French on the eve of the election, the swing to the left was completely unexpected.

 

The prophecies speaking of the fragility of power come true to the decimal point. We are in the right place where we are, no doubt. What a privilege to be in this divine light and force, people are so lost and stunned by the instability...

I apologise for not re-reading the article before I wrote my comment and relying on my memory of a month ago. And I didn't proof read my comment before posting. Rookie error, that!! I used the word 'of' instead of 'with', but I really don't think my error in semantics deserved your response.

 

I was merely trying to convey the fact that they are going to make a vaccine to prevent something that has already happened. Hence the link.

 

Regardless of what the man died of or his health issues, the whole point of my response was that 'he died with a strain of bird flu never recorded in people before now'. 

 

I'm sorry that my response upset you so much.
