Just upgraded to a 6.3

 

 

Yesterday, I received this alert for the same location.

 

But it was later lowered to a 5.8.

A major, extremely shallow, 7.3 earthquake just struck off the coast of Perryville, Alaska. 

 

Being just one mile from the earth's surface, this 7.3 has the potential to cause some tsunamis.

The quake that struck up in Alaska was so big, the USGS is having a hard time determining its actual magnitude and depth.  They just changed it to an 8.3 at 29 miles down, and now to an 8.2, and there are several tsunami alerts.

 

 

The tsunami buoys we're going bullistic.

 

 

 

Two 6.0+ aftershocks we're also triggered by this ginormous quake.

 

 

Yup, there's a whole lot a' shakin' goin' on.

Just seeing feedback from the pro’s about this earthquake. They are saying it was a typical subduction zone earthquake with a typical focal mechanism of underthrusting of the oceanic plate. And the good news is. That the sea floor did not move enough to generate more than a local small tsunami.

The wave of global seismic unrest continues...

 

 

Forty-four quakes 5.0+ in just the past week.

Three of those were 6.0+ quakes and one was 8.0+

Two days ago at midnight a 2.1 struck in Howard County, MD.  Some people felt it but weren't sure what it was. By morning the news said it was an earthquake.   It's tiny in comparison with the other one's shown on the graphics above.   Yup, in one place after another.

The lava fountains might not have reached the same intensity as during the exceptionally violent preceding 31 July-1 Aug paroxysm, but the volcano greeted people living around the mountain with a series of particularly strong explosions of large bursting lava bubbles from the crater that generated shock waves that rattled windows and doors in more than 15 distance and kept many people awake to watch the mesmerizing show from the volcano.

 

As long as these paroxysmal eruptions, or eruptive phases, now the 53rd in a row since February this year, continue from the New SE crater in the summit area, they pose no danger to the surroundings, only great annoyance with the frequent ash and lapilli fall deposits in varying sectors, but most frequently the eastern ones affected where people almost constantly need to clean roofs and surfaces including roads from the black volcanic ash.  - This is what my Aunt was telling me about, the ash falling and always having to clean up the lapilli (small rocks).
