This article found on Aljeezera News Dated August 20, 2023:

(This is portion of what their news sources said about the incoming "tropical storm" that originally was known as an Hurricane.)

"Forecasters said the storm was still expected to enter the history books as the first tropical storm to hit southern California in 84 years, bringing flash floods, mudslides, isolated tornadoes, strong winds and power outages. Authorities have issued an evacuation advisory for Santa Catalina Island in the US, urging residents and beach goers to leave the tourist destination 37km (23 miles) off the coast.  Hilary brought heavy rain and flooding to Mexico and the southwestern US on Saturday, before its expected Sunday border crossing."

There was a similar storm 80 yrs ago (1939).

Why the floods in Libya were so destructive and deadly | DW News

(I don't know if this events wasn't take place before but being it so destructive makes this candidate on this thread)

There are many events that never happen before and one reason why is because of technology. There was no airplanes 200 years ago. Now we have them we can expect plane crashes or air disasters.
