After all that beards talk and new publications we now can turn our attention to the first part of annual meeting.

Main topic is resurrection.

Talks were deliverd by brothers Winder, Splane and Jackson.

The portion of the Annual Meeting before the final 4-part symposium was not secret.  We were told not to post our notes (that is normal every year).  But we are permitted to share our thoughts and reflections with anyone who is interested.

 

And after next Monday, everyone will know.

 

There was not confidential material in the first half (2/3s) of the meeting.  The clarifications discussed are not secret.  I realize that those who were not there may not get the nuances of the individual details but the 3-part introductory symposium was given by Br. Winder, Br. Splane and Br. Jackson.  The middle part of the program had to do with updates and encouragement. The main presenter was Br. Lett.  Br. Cook was the chairman and he had given his 30 minute part (talk) on the Monday before included in his Monthly Broadcast for October.  don't forget to watch that broadcast to get the background of the possible combination of the preaching of the "Good News" and the "Judgement Message" combined.  That talk leads us into the first part of the AM.

 

Br. Winder explains very carefully how the Holy Spirit moves the GB.  Br. Splane covers much on the resurrection dealing with ancient times.  Br. jackson brings us into the modern times and also covers adjustments to the understanding of the Great Tribulation survivors.

 

Ask questions if you like but the "spoiler" connection is in the title of the other theme in Meetings, Ministry and Life section...❤️

I've always been curious how or what qualifies people and/or congregations to view the annual meeting? Is it a random draw or something? Certain privileged people only?

In our congregation, our COBE is a remote Bethel worker.  He is invited to these events (usually by JW Stream  since the Pandemic).  We also have a couple of publishers with relatives in Bethel.  In each of these cases, a small amount of friends can be invited to watch with them on the day of the meeting (either Gilead or the AM or rarely the Branch visit).

 

There are other cases when a friend who is no relation and no member of your congregation just gets permission to share the login data with you.  And there is the case where a publisher is aware that opportunities exist and simply asks if they can join.

 

The attendees could be considered "special" in the sense that not everyone has family, friends or contacts at Bethel.  Also,  the invitations are restricted to the English speaking audiences in the US. Canada and Caribbean branches.

 

On rare occasions, like our 2013 AM where we got our new Bibles, the meeting was open to all congregations with the equipment to display the program.
