What is your weather like today?

Recommended Posts

It's snowing here since last night. No big accumulations. Looks real nice though and the snow is perfect for snowball fight. I don't really pay attention to what it's going to be like....just look out the window and deal with that crazy New England weather. Here's what it's like now

Liz please don't be mad at my picture from last night. Our first mowing of the season. And the smell!!!!! YEOW!!! Was beautiful weather, about 58 or so, sunny. See the Pcaific North West isn't always rainy!

Our mornings are at 17 degrees. Alot cooler now.

But the days are warm up still feeling the heat.

I do like Autum the ocean is perfecto.

It's really weird weather here for March. Last year at this time it was weird because it got so warm, as if it was summer, that people were out sunbathing which is unusual for spring. This year has been the extreme opposite - coldest for 50 years. Our town today was clear but very cold and windy, however the weird bit is that just outside town the snow came down with a vengeance. In just a few hours vehicles travelling along our main route north and south of the county - the A595 - were suddenly buried under 15 feet of snow and vehicles with caterpillar track - like they use in Norway - had to be deployed to rescue people trapped under the snow in their cars - even the snow-plough and road salt gritters were buried! Pity not everyone can see this BBC footage of the suddeness of this event - BBC News doesn't put out worldwide available footage like Youtube anyway for those who can view it, this is the video here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21910180#

152185=8352-snowsheep.png This sudden deep snow is a worry as it is lambing time out here and lots of ewes are out in fields with lambs getting buried under the snow if the farmer isn't quick enough to get them into shelter.

Helen, this is terrible. That's a ton of snow! The melt is going to be awful. And those poor baby lambs. I hope the weather takes a swift turn for the better, but then the flooding that could happen may not be such a easy thin either. I'm not being very encouraging am I, sorry.

I sent an email to my friend in the next congregation beyond the snowdrift at Millom. She replied:

"thanks for the e-mail.Our meeting was cancelled this morning as the roads are not good. In fact there was a news item on the national news about the A595 being blocked between Silecroft and Bootle. there were 20' snow drifts and some of our congregation have been cut off. We've been in touch and fortunately they had got a 'big shop' in before the weather turned bad. I hope that this all clears before Tuesday night!!Look forward to seeing you on the 28th - weather permitting as I intend to come up for the sign meeting."

The Sign Language Circuit Overseer is coming to our Hall to give the Memorial talk as part of his visit that week - Gillian does BSL, so she hopes to join us for the Thursday meeting - hope they've dug the roads out of the snow by then - and we get no more and she can make it.

I was not expecting this snow and I'm not really happy about it. My Monday is off to a rough start :-(

My husband just bought a huge new snow blower for the library , because their little peanut sized one died and the board asked him why did he get such a huge thing! Well...they're using it today for the first time. And the guy who plows their parking lots had to come out to.

Crazy.I think it will melt fast though,it's so warm out.

I see in the news that the groundhog Punxsutawney Phil is getting sued for making a false prediction. Butler County Prosecutor Mike Gmoser even called for the death penalty to be brought upon Phil as his punishment, if convicted.

Helen, Nance, Astrid and Bob- I'm so sorry you folks have the wet white stuff. It's nice in December but in March it's just irritating. Many of us are on to thinking about spring flowers and a little warmer even if it is raining. Trying to pioneer must be a drag. I know I've had a struggle this month with horizontal rain a few days but nothing compares with your snowfall. I promise to stop whining! We here in Washington State, USA on the ocean always get a bad rap about how much rain we get. In reality it's not as much as talk would indicate. But I would never like to cope with what you folks have going. Please let us all know how the memorial turns out for you. I'll be thinking of you. Oh, and the ewes, please let me know how the shepherds do OK?? I've been thinking of them since you mentioned them Helen.

Spring arrives in a flash: 55-degree temperature increase stands as one of fastest daily changes in Fairbanks history

Posted: Friday, March 29, 2013 6:31 am | Updated: 10:14 am, Fri Mar 29, 2013. by Dermot Cole

Thursday began with temperatures in the 24-below range, typical mid-winter conditions.

But the seasons changed in record time. Winter ended and spring was in bloom by mid-afternoon. I half-expected to see dandelions, mosquitos and convertibles with the top down.

About 11 hours after the 5 a.m. chill, the reading at the airport was 31 above. The 55-degree change was  the largest from night to day in March in the "modern era" in Fairbanks, the National Weather Service says.

The warm air moved into Fairbanks from the south. The spring-like conditions are expected to continue with highs in the 30s today, continuing through Easter Sunday and into next week.

On April 3, 1944, the temperature climbed 56 degrees in one day, a record that still stands.  On March 11, 1930, there was a 54-degree rise, the weather service said.]

This is Alaska, for sure. Our seasons change fast but not this fast, generally. We now have nearly 14 hrs. of sunshine! (<img src=)'>

We're here in Washington State and the weather today is unbelieveable as well. It's over 70 F. Outside our ears are assulted with dualing lawn mowers! We went from a typical fresh 50ish weather to 70's and, like you, the Southern air flow will warm it up even more by Monday. We aren't making any records like you are Dorothy but it's incredible all the same.
