Yes, you are mistaken. Long before we had the Internet, there were announcements made about not treating the GB members as celebrities when we saw/met them at Conventions - it was even mentioned we should not be asking them for their autographs.

 

I can recall such admonition back in the early 1970's when I was working sound at the Conventions.

We had good news that our pregnant sister in Eritrean was released. A good reminder to keep these dear ones still in prison in our prayers. They are the ones worthy of imitation - their faith.

One day we were visiting a congregation in Bucharest and this brother came and greeted us. After chatting for a few minutes I said: "Brother, I hear you and I feel like I'm listening to Satan". He started laughing. He was the brother who played the voice of Satan in dramas.
