I remember watching ABC news one night during the early days of Ukraine evacuation. It was a brief glimpse, but there was a group of Witnesses with the JW.org sign. It was wonderful to see our friends right there on the front lines!

In the 80s and 90s, during the Saturday morning cartoons. He'd come on right after the Mountain High and Santa's Village commercials. Sound advice from a bear with a ranger hat on. He'd say... "only you can prevent forest fires...."... 🫣

 

SCE is my power company. I wonder how they're going to treat their customers going forward. I have some SCE contacts in different congregations. 🧐

For context I pay $2300 for 920 sqft 2bd 2ba and live about 40 miles away from this madness. So what I have there is an easy $3.5k to $4k and probably now $5k to $8k. Sad sad sad.

I honestly don’t know how anyone apart from celebrities, lawyers, and doctors affords California now. It’s sad. When we lived there - dinosaurs roaming - anyone afford it. 😞

I’m getting angry just looking at this. Landlords and property developers, driven by greed and selfishness, taking advantage of people’s desperate situations. Makes me want to throw up; they did the same thing in Maui during their fires a while back.

Watching a celebrity broker talking about how disgusted he’s been seeing the price gouging. It’s terrible to see people behave in such an evil way. 
Despite how much we want people of all sorts to survive, the nature and heart of many is just greedy, selfish and opposed to anything good. The only way to protect the meek is to remove the wicked.

It is is interesting  how  people/ companies etc react ...greed is good ...exercising the law of supply and demand is a smart thing... profit is a sacred right.

 

My favourite scripture from the Message Bible is  2 Tim 3:1-5

 1.Don't be naive. There are difficult times ahead.

2 As the end approaches, people are going to be self-absorbed, money-hungry, self-promoting, stuck-up, profane, contemptuous of parents, crude, coarse,

3 dog-eat-dog, unbending, slanderers, impulsively wild, savage, cynical,

4 treacherous, ruthless, bloated windbags, addicted to lust, and allergic to God.

5 They'll make a show of religion, but behind the scenes they're animals. Stay clear of these people.

I have been reading about wildfires and the Santa Ana winds recently.  These things have been happening an estimated 5,000 years. indicated by research that has been done.  But it would appear that the hotter, drier conditions due to climate change are making things worse.  Of course, I don't live in the area and do not have firsthand information.

 

Should we believe the climate deniers?  Are space lasers being used to start fires to make it seem as if things are getting warmer?
