Just diagnosed with diabetes; how do I reverse my condition.

Recommended Posts

Hi I just got diagnosed with type 2 about a month ago and I am completely overwhelmed by all the prescription medicines I have to take. I am tired often because my pancreas does not produce enough insulin to break down the glucose to give me energy.

My A1C was 6.2, just below the threshold, but due to the results of my blood tests, the doctor diagnosed me. I am distressed and looking for help.

How do I get this disease in remission?

Leviticus 19:18: “‘You must not take vengeance nor hold a grudge against the sons of your people, and you must love your fellow man as yourself.”

T2D doesn't have cure, you will have to learn to live a normal life with it successfully, which is very possible.

But the main challenge will be if you don't have money to take care of yourself and afford the needed changes.a brother in my congregation has DM but doesn't have money,it's a pitiful thing to see.

Ishaya, isn‘t Type 1 Diabetes Milletus the incurable type, offen starting in childhood? Whereas Type 2 is brought on and can be reversed by lowering adipose states?

A change of diet should help.

Besides reducing sugar intake, you also need to restrict starches - like pasta, potatoes, bread and the like

Also, remember many fruits are high in sugar.

Evening Elijah,

I was diagnosed last year with it and have gone with a Keto / Carnivore diet to get it into remission by following Dr Eric Berg and Dr Ken Berry on Youtube.

As already mentioned by John above, I have removed potatoes and other starchy vegetables, bread, rice and pasta from my diet.  I only cook with butter, ghee and olive oil after also removing seed, canola, rapeseed and other vegetable oils.

One of my main problems was a lack of meat in my diet by trying to be 'healthy' and eat vegetables instead.  However, I was never full and grazed a lot in the evenings on rubbish. I eat a lot more eggs, cheese & peanut butter and meat and am pretty full most of the time.

I hope the attached helps, but don't be put off also by having carnivore days (I do three consecutive ones a week).

As others have said, regular exercise and a very low carb diet. Your body reads all carbs as glucose. It doesn’t matter whether it’s pasta, rice, or table sugar. I like Dr. Eric Westman, an associate professor of medicine at Duke University. He’s pretty much made this his life’s work.

It can be done.

1. Cut sugar (cravings for sugar will be easier with time)

2. Green juice or beetroot juice

3. Walking

4. Water

5. Try to avoid eating after 7pm

6. When you wake up drink warm water with lemon half an hour before breakfast.

7. All the advise that others gave you.

If you follow this and do blood sugar test in 2 months time , your doctor will have a nice surprise....

Just have a will to stick to it.

If I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2 I would reject the medication and go on a strict Keto diet or the Carnivore diet. I would also set up an intermittent fasting protocol and stick to it.

The benefits of this are well founded.

Any advice to start doing these things needs to be carefully considered as you really need to speak to your doctor about your plan and review the taking of your new medication. Being on diabetic medication and going on a no/low carb diet and practicing intermittent fasting CAN BE DANGEROUS.

I would review many of Dr Jason Fungs videos again if this happened to me because he is an expert and has helped his patients with Type 2 Diabetes.

Micah 4:5 ......"we, for our part, shall walk in the name of Jehovah our God to time indefinite, even forever."

John 15:13 "No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his life in behalf of his friends."

Any little steps to begin will make a difference. So maybe you have to learn to train yourself to start replacing foods - instead of unhealthy snacks, foods or drinks like candies, chips, sweets, coke or pop, you replace them with healthy alternatives, or just keep them out of your shopping list. If you have a craving, then reach for something else that might taste similar but is healthier. There are alot of recipes online to mimic such foods, and are much, much healthier.

Fasting reduces inflammation, and the flooding of glucose in your body that has turned into fat. Most studies on fasting have been on overweight, older individuals. I am a fasting coach, so can attest to the benefits. Just make sure your kidneys are healthy, and please still check with your doctor.

Everytime you eat, whether healthy or unhealty foods, you trigger glucose levels from the liver. Then your insulin stores go into action from your pancreas. But your insulin stores in your pancreas can get exhausted from continually being signalled, to the point where it slowly starts to give out not so much, to the point where it just gives up and doesn‘t give out any insulin at all. Instead of that glucose being turned into energy from insulin, it just swims in your body and turns into unhealthy levels of fat, and can be dangerous without some of it being used up with insulin. To reverse this, you have to speak with someone who can help devise a plan that suits you, or you do your own research and start a plan. Some have had success on the Dukan diet as athere is no calorie restriction.

Again, start slow. Incorporate physical movement and activity into your life - start walking everyday, then progress to exercises. Set goals for yourself, reward yourself (without food) for sticking to your goals. Such as buying a new shirt, or buying a bicycle, getting a massage, new pair of sunglasses, or pampering yourself with something other than food. The more you see the results, the more you will be motivated to continue and get off your meds, and reverse the condition. Take before and after pictures.

Also, everytime you see results, you trigger your limbic system in your brain that is the reward and motivation center, and will affect positively your feelings by shooting out the right hormones. By reducing your weight, your body will automatically feel the rewards, and the motivation to continue. It‘s not the destiny but the journey that your body likes, and will send you the right hormone signals to help you stay on track.

This should be monitored by a doctor, who is perhaps more than happy to have a diabetic type 2 person off their meds. But if done too soon and premature, can lead to more problems. Always in consultation with one‘s doctor until someone is at the very least in the yellow or green zone.

Thanks dear Sister Amygdala,

you gave the most balanced, best advice, in my opinion. I was a qualified nurse and health care worker here in Germany. I also had my own practice as an alternative practitioner for 2.5 years, specializing in homeopathy, phytotherapy and healthy nutrition.  So-called university medicine always had an appropriate place in all my decisions. Just a brief summary of my qualifications! -- Now, at the age of 82, I have Parkinson's disease, high blood pressure and stents in my heart arteries, as well as adult-onset diabetes type 2. Thanks to an excellent health system here in Germany, all my illnesses have been thoroughly examined. A chain of treatments including a 3-week thorough rehabilitation in an appropriate clinic, I got very good nutritional advice from studied nutritional physicians. I also received very good physiotherapy treatments. As for the diet: high-quality food, naturally low in carbohydrates, no so-called junk food! Low animal fats, the typical diabetes diet. Only wholemeal bread, lots of vegetables, fruit and salads, mostly on a biodynamic basis. A very important piece of advice: always eat and chew very, very slowly. Be aware of what you eat, inform yourself thoroughly about the benefits and value of what you eat.  And don't forget; exercise, exercise. More later.

My medicin for diabetes: 2x 500mg Metformin to the other medicine.
