I'm not familiar with social media, how does a lot of followers affect the account? Does it make more popular so more people will see it?

Here in my congregation, an announcement was made about not posting only links from the JW website on social media. If anyone has posted anything from the site, please remove it. In a separate announcement, we were asked not to follow the organization's official social media accounts. Anyone wanting more information should go to the JW website.

The first 3 posts to our social media’s were essentially links to JW.org pages, but the post today takes you to https://spectator.com/article/ukraines-jehovahs-witnesses-are-refusing-to-go-to-war/

 

perhaps we’ll be linking out to JW stuff in other news outlets more than we ever used to (which was very rarely)

Question is the Spanish language account official as well? The reason why I ask is that the Brother whom read the announcement last night said  that it would only be in English.

I’ve seen an Instagram page identical to the official one, but in spanish. I’m from Brazil and the ad said directly: “English only.” Unless spanish-speaking congregations received an ad saying “also in spanish” (I don’t think so), the only official profile is the english one.

There is only one official JW Pressroom account: @jw_pressroom on Instagram and TikTok in English.

 

As stated in the letter sent to the congregations, the account is currently available only in English. OPI has also confirmed that there are no other official JW Pressroom accounts besides the English @jw_pressroom account.

 

If you can, please report these fake accounts. In fact, some of the fake JW Pressroom accounts on Instagram have turned out to be apostate accounts on TikTok.

 

Also, if you see anyone you know following a fake JW Pressroom account, kindly let them know that they followed a fake account and provide them with the correct one: @jw_pressroom.

Shannon, I understand you don't have a good opinion about those sites. They can indeed be a waste of time for many.

 

But think of it this way. We need to go where people are. If we are going house to house and no one's home because everybody is in the park or in the market, that's where we should go and preach.

 

Many millions today don't read newspapers or watch tv, they obtain their information and their news from Instagram and Tiktok. So the Slave thought: What if we go there where people can be found? It's a pilot program. Millions will be exposed, maybe for the first time, to accurate information about our work. If results are good, they will go on with it. If they aren't, it will be discontinued. Jehovah is in control.
