Good one Norma, I treated mine much the same way and suffered much less than the brother who had them same time I did. I found aloe worked for me. Didn't know about honey, good idea.

I had a severe case of shingles a few years ago when my grandson died, and then they got infected. The things I remember that helped a lot was apple cider vinegar and St. John's Wort. The herb was good for the nerve pain and the vinegar helped with the burning pain of the rash and  the infection. I used a lot of things but these stand out in my memory. I also found using a pressure bandage helped immensely.

They lasted a long time, months, and now am left with  postherpetic neuralgia, pain caused by damage to the nerve root endings. But thankfully it's bearable..
