I've heard that ignorance and apathy are two of the biggest issues today, I don't know if that is true and I really don't care...

Wanna feel really really small...

Eagle Nebula

The Eagle Nebula is a billowing tower of gas and dust that rises up from a heavenly nursery.
This small piece of the Eagle Nebula is 57 trillion miles long!

Heavenly nursery?  Hmph...interesting choice of words. ^_^

If the small piece is 57 trillion miles long, how long is the big piece?

Crab Nebula

The Crab Nebula is actually a remnant of a supernova and contains a pulsating star in its center.
A supernova is actually an exploding star.
What makes this particular nebula so interesting is that it was observed and recorded
by Chinese astronomers as early as 1045 AD.

Maybe, I'll have to think about it. What were we talking about?

She is the American Empress

Beautiful!

The American Empress is a 360-foot (110 m) diesel-powered paddle-wheeler that was formerly operated by Majestic America Line and named the Empress of the North.[2] She was built in 2002 at the Nichols Brothers Boat Builders shipyard on Whidbey Island, in the U.S. state of Washington, for $50 million and debuted as a cruise ship in 2003.[3] She is listed as accommodating 223 guests, and originally cruised Alaska's Inside Passage, the Pacific Northwest, and the Columbia River. While being operated by Majestic America Line, the ship was decorated with a 19th century Russian theme, but with Alaskan touches in the form of carvings and masks.[4]

During the ship's time in Alaska, several smaller port cities such as Wrangell and Petersburg depended on the visits by the Empress of the North for a substantial amount of tourist-related commerce.[5]

In 2013,[6] the Empress of the North was acquired by the American Queen Steamboat Company, which in 2014 renamed the ship American Empress and placed her back into service on the Columbia and Snake Rivers, after five years out of service. The ship's home port is now Vancouver, Washington.[7]

John and Richard, just when did you come here and ride her? Smarty-pants!!

I'd love to if I could, I love paddle boats. I use to ride the Mark Twain Steamboat at Disneyland when I was a kid. I went to a paddle boat museum in Iowa and loved it. My wife and I have talked about booking a cruise on a paddle boat but they are too expensive.  :(

They have them down the Murray River...

They really are pretty. Painted so colorful. And the glide, love the glide. But they are too expensive, for me too. So I'll just sit on the bank and watch them paddle off.

The Grand Canyon Skywalk/Glass Bridge :o

HIGHER THAN THE TALLEST SKYSCRAPER

• Grand Canyon Skywalk is located 4,000 feet above the Colorado River.
• Consists of more than 1 million pounds of steel and 83,000 pounds of glass.
• In total, it weighs 1.2 million pounds.
• Its foundation is strong enough to support about 71 million pounds – the equivalent of 71 fully loaded
747 airplanes.
• The glass walls are approximately 5’-7” high, extending 4’-6” above the glass floor – safer than code yet
low enough that guests do not feel confined.
• Grand Canyon Skywalk is 10 feet wide.
It extends 70 feet out over the canyon and cost over 30 million dollars to build.
Tickets range between $84 and $335.
