Your Primary Race?

 A couple of months ago I file an online application. The question was asked: What is you primary race?. This question is pure racist and made me physically sick. If I was half black and half white; then what I should put down? What is going on here is that ones multiracial backgound is disappearing.

 

 This is what happened to my Native American background. It was disappearing and I put a stop to it. How? By putting down my both multiracial backgrounds and that is White and Native American and I am the only sibling doing this. If anyone is multiracial and have a chance to put down who you are, then put down what you are! It is a gift from Jehovah that you multiracial. Yes, I have a little Native American blood in me and no matter how much mutiracial you are, you still put down what you are. Defy this racist world!!

 

 So, when the next Census comes out; what are you going to put down for your race? On October 31, 2014, and previous months I have been putting down Native American and White. If Jehovah's willing, when I tell my Native American ancestors about this in the New World, they will be proud of this white and somewhat reddish indian.

Do you think there will be racial distinction in the New World? Jehovah is not partial. Has racial distinction today divided or united people? I have British, French, Swiss and a little Native American, so I just say I'm Swiss cheese of which means nothing. Where I come from, to me, means nothing in comparison to where I am hoping to go.

I just pick a minority for the area I'm in, that way I have a better chance to get the loan or the job, etc.

If you were half black/half white as I am, you can very often select both -- which I do.

 

If I cannot, I always check "other"...or leave blank if no suitable option is available.  I always claim all my parentage.  My grandmother was half Chickasaw, but I have no tribal record proof of it so I don't claim that on official forms.  But I mention it if someone asks.

Having worked enough in statistics and knowing this question is usually not about racism, but rather gathering as much statistical data as possible - I just don't understand the offense.

 

But then again - I am part of one of the largest statistical groups - perhaps that helps me not to feel singled out.

 

One more thing - as I am on the soap box.

BUT - if it said "We are a global leader in the education of men of Caucasian descent"   How much of an uproar do you imagine there would be???

 

Why should the race of the students be the primary focus of any place of education?

So to recognize the differences is not the issue. Racism is when we use this information to determine the worth or rights of a group of people.

I have never seen anything about "Primary Race"  on any form I have ever filled out. I have seen "White/Hispanic" and "White Non-Hispanic"

I would put down black, white and native american. Yes, I can't LEGALLY prove my Native American backgorund, yet I can prove it. Native Americans in my area know who I am. And they can see it too.

Some don't take this as offense, I respect it. Yet, I see the others side too. I know some one who is Puerto Rican and she was asked if she was ONLY black or white. What can she put down? She was mad too.
