I'm trying to keep calm, cool and collected... Since last October and February: This is post 1225 in International Peace and Security forum

Let's see what happens by May 10, 11, 2016 regarding UN and its mission for maintaining peace and security; or decisions from that meeting! 4 months! Sent from my GT-N5110 using Tapatalk

The UN has a plan to restore international peace and security – will it work?

https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2016/03/the-UN-has-a-plan-to-restore-international-peace-and-security-will-it-work/

It’s official. Global instability is the new normal. Political and economic uncertainties, combined with climate change and the so-called Fourth Industrial Revolution, are all contributing to create unparalleled volatility. Diplomats and defence specialists have fretted over these interlocking threats at major conferences in Davos and Munich over the past two months.

The potential for catastrophic outbreaks of violence between the US, Russia, and China is more apparent now than at any time since the Cold War came to an end. Proxy conflicts in Syria and Yemen, Russian aggression over Ukraine and its neighbours, and tensions in the South China Sea are in some ways a “correction” after two decades of relative stability.

And the problems don't end there. Many of the world's 40-odd armed conflicts are becoming more vicious and fragmented. Civil wars and factional fighting in Syria, Libya and Yemen are generating record levels of population displacement. More people were killed as a result of “terrorist” acts in the past few years –especially in Africa and the Middle East – than ever before. These latest trends are in stark contrast to a half century decline in organized violence.

Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things.

... I feel like pulling an A. H. McMillan on May 8 and announce this will be the last public talk I give because the UN thematic debates begin in two days ... 😁 might be my last public talk anyway if I make that announcement regardless of what happens

Deeply concerned by the high human cost and suffering caused by armed conflicts, and recognizing the significant number of simultaneous security and humanitarian crises that the world currently faces, the United Nations General Assembly and the Security Council today concurrently adopted resolutions on the Organization’s peacebuilding architecture, providing renewed momentum for the focus within the UN system on ‘sustaining peace.’

May I muse?.....

Coincidence?... UN discussions for peace and security May 10,11 and Russia's harassment of the brothers and sisters and the "branch" :

From jw.org:

"Russian authorities have taken another bold step in an aggressive, government-sponsored campaign against Jehovah’s Witnesses. The Prosecutor General’s Office is threatening to liquidate the Administrative Center of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia for alleged “extremist activity.” In a warning letter dated March 2, 2016, Deputy Prosecutor General V. Ya. Grin demanded that the Center eliminate all “violations” within two months."

Puts this liquidation threat on around May 2...pray for whole association of brothers... Something is brewing!

Looks like they copied our "whiteboard animation" type style/music.

P.S. Tracy, perhaps you can petition the moderators to remove the other embedded links to this and just leave the one.

Can't lose what you don't have :lol1:

I hid the topics.  That doesn't help us mods out, because we can still see the clutter.  LOL

Respect for different faiths ‘bedrock’ and ‘prerequisite’ of world peace, UN General Assembly told

Article:

http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=53880#.Vy5WgHo-g3I

Excerpts:

..........Terrorist attacks all over the world, however, demonstrate clearly that achieving harmony and strengthening intercultural and interreligious dialogue is a great challenge and perhaps more important today than at any time in the recent past, he said.

Noting violent extremism as a serious concern, he said that there is a clear need for the international community to unite across all religions and all countries in response to such threats, align strategies and provide resources commensurate to the task...........

........The Secretary-General’s Plan of Action to Prevent Violent Extremism recognizes that security-based counter-terrorism measures cannot eradicate terrorism unless preventive steps that address the roots of the problem accompany it. The Plan identifies distortion and misuse of beliefs, ethnic and cultural differences as one of the drivers of violent extremism.

“The engagement of religious leaders is essential to counteract the messages of the leaders of terrorist groups who distort the core of religious beliefs for self-serving purposes,” Mr. Al-Nasser said, urging religious leaders to assert their rejection of violent doctrines, emphasize the peaceful and tolerant values inherent in their theologies, and condemn the destruction by extremists of ancient sites that are the testimony of the history ancient culture sand symbols of pluralism and tolerance.........

In his opening remarks, Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, High Representative for the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), highlighted that mutual respect for different faiths and cultures is the bedrock of a world at peace, and understanding and acceptance of differences in religious beliefs are the foundations of long-term sustainable development.

That's a great idea, since our religious beliefs require us to preach, does that mean that everyone has to understand and accept what we do and stop trying to prevent our preaching???
