all things star trek

Recommended Posts

I love all things Star Trek.  I am not a Trekkie.  I do not speak Klingon.  I do not attend Star Trek conventions, etc.

My wife can't stand Star Trek.  She would prefer to watch reruns of Frasier (for the umpteenth time) which is on at the same time locally.  At 8 PM (eastern time), I sometimes put the TV on H&I and see which Star Trek episode is on.  We usually end up watching a couple of episodes of Frasier on Cozi TV instead.  H&I is on 43-5 (WFXB-TV) and Cozi TV is on 43-7.

A man is outside a house in overalls, just waiting, and then another man comes out and shouts excitedly. The man outside picks up a very large spanner and starts attacking a downmarket car outside the house. "What are you doing!" the householder says. The man replies' I thought you said Start Reck".

Star Trek. I remember when it first came on tv. I was busy doing whatever, and the, “transport”, thing happened. I quickly decided it was, um, “unclean spirits”, at work. I cant remember how i got past that particulat thougnt. But i did.

I'm still waiting for Klingon language to be added to the JW language app. I still haven't met a Klingon out in service yet so it's still ok. Besides they would be a little rough to witness to.

The Vulcan language has gotten so little attention, though, in comparison, apart from a few moments on film and the VLD online. Think it should be Vulcan before Klingon. We’re supposed to meet them in less than 4 decades anyway…

Kirk & Spock return, one last time...

Saw this when it came out the other day. Choked me up. With that one scene where Spock takes Kirk’s hand, it shows me that Jules Urbach and the crew at OTOY are the only ones since TOS who understand what made this show great. I wonder if we’ll see Leonard again one day. 😢

I was just looking at a lest of actors from the original series.  All of the main actors, except for William Shatner, George Takei, and Walter Koenig have died.  Many of the co-stars (or guest stars) have also died.  Of course, the show was on almost 60 years ago.  Traci Lawrence said it very well!  "Time Marches On."

Somewhere I have an autographed picture of Shatner that my girls got for me when they went to an event before COVID

Nice!  I'm going to get him to sign these:

The last one is a coaster I will have 3D printed out.  Something completely unique, definitely will be one of a kind.  That should be worth something extra, eh?  :whistling:

Both the investor & ST fan inside of me is excited.  :D

Wish I could read it. When I was growing up, and even into my 20’s, I had no idea there were comics. Only found out about them a few years ago. 😢

Your wish can come true. There's 1 left at my local comic shop.

PS - this comic store is run by JWs. 😁

It's a 140 page graphic novel.

I haven't read it yet. I just bought it a few days ago and will go pick it up tomorrow hopefully.

Dunno if I will read it. At least not this copy since I plan to have it signed...

I glanced through the pages, trying not to touch it too much.  It looks like it is actually really good.

So I ended up ordering a cheaper copy off of eBay to read.  I'll let you know in more detail once I read it.

It’s difficult to find anything worth reading. ST fanfic at Archive of Our Own is about 75% gay porn. And here I thought things were bad 40 years ago…

Go to an actual comic store. I have not had that experience.

Fan fic is going to go all over the place. "Real" comics tend to stay close to canon.

ST fanfic...

There's your problem right there 🤣

I'm kidding. OK, not much as many a truth is said in jest. Fanfic, especially today, is going to be influenced by the fans writing it. Fans that do not answer to editors or what the audience will purchase with money.

There are plenty of good Trek novels out there from before the LGBT days. There are plenty of stinkers, too 🤣. Of course, this doesn't help if you've alr read all of them.

I like that suggestion about comics. Might find quality digital downloads for a reasonable price.

There are some gems in the fanfic world, but you gotta be patient and have endurance in looking for them.

I do like some fan films like Continues and their 11 episode series on YouTube. Same with a few others like Star Trek Exeter.

Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well-spoken-of, whatever things are virtuous, and whatever things are praiseworthy, continue considering these things.
