I seriously doubt the GT will be started by some drugged up idiot with a knife.

Stabbing deaths are common, but not normal. In 2017 nearly 1600 people were killed by knives just in the USA.

I might just buy the bullet proof back pack for service.  Who knows some demonic influenced person may walk, run by or in a car start shooting.  I may not make it or my partner at the door, even the homeowners, but my books and tablet will.  There will be instructions in there what to do with my body.  At my meeting tonight it was announced that the 3 year in advance memorial days and months for 2020, 2021 and 2022.  So hopefully one of these 3 dates will bring an end if not, the only one who will be walking through G.T., and into be swept up in the heavens will Br. Ken Cook, he's the youngest of the G.B.  Everybody else will have died and gone up except him.

I meant it as a joke.  Of course there will be other brother's appointed if some of the older GB, should die before the end comes.  The brother's just like to plan ahead just in case the end is closer then we think.

It is still puzzled me about the announcement... We had early memorial date in our jw calendar before.. Why the announcement?!!! So bro and sis can't avoid to think that Armageddon would come in those said years.. Or persecution will creep from nation to the other.

Although no very good ( well defined and reputable) compilation is currently available ( the CDC no longer tracks these figures) that stabbing figure from 2017 ( 1600 killed) is probably about equal to those who died in mass shootings in the same period.

It has happened here in Canada too, although it's rare. The only thing I personally got was an egg thrown at my partner and me by a hidden assailant while we were in service. It hit the ground before it got to us, and just splashed on my shoe a little. But when I spoke to one of the elders about it, he told us about a sister in our congregation who had been shot at in service. Her service bag protected her.

 

Bullet proof back pack? A bullet (or an egg) could hit some other area too. We shouldn't worry too excessively about it though. Again, it's rare.
